Think I said not to give the Lions second place too early, like 7 games in... sheesh!  Some of you will have to tear down your altars already if Stafford is out.  This just in, Nick Fairley is fat.  Not the same player at Auburn.  I'll give him a pass given his broken leg coming into the season.

Otts, what was your prediction for Bears and Bucs again?  Little foggy here...  Makes your prediction of the Bears/Eagles a little less convincing, Nostradamas...  Come to think of it, when was the last Bear's victory you predicted?  I mean in the 2000's...

Can someone "Conrad Dobler" Suh already?  Already got by Jeremy Youngblood of the Bucs, one of the dirtiest players around.  Logan Mankins won't be an option.  Who else is out there to clean this thug's clock?  Someone needs to fold this guy already.

Think if we had Carimi back he could take on Suh? That would be nice.

Ah not so fast. I am not so sure of this but dont the Bears usually play flat coming out of the bye week? Maybe with the sense of urgency they do better but I am not sold that Otto isnt right about that score.

No question, the Bears have dropped plenty of these "should win" games in the past.  I was just pointing out that there are quite a few trends and circumstances around this next game that should potentially anyway, be in the Bears' favor.  The Eagles have enough talent that if they decide they want to all pull together, they can still turn things around, especially in that very average division.  I would hate for the Bears to be the team they do it against.

This is the type of game these Bears tend to drop (or make more "interesting" by being leaving them in it) versus an opponent who is on the ropes and ready to implode.

There's not killer instinct in this team (hasn't been for many, many years now)- its get a lead and then hang on for dear life (see vs the Bucs for the latest example of the "art" of Lovie Ball).

It will at least be interesting to see if this team finally gets "IT" and dominates a team the whole game (like good teams do), or its just the same old tease over again.

I didn't get to see the game, only the highlights but was it just me or did Urlacher look slow on his INT return?

It wasn't one of his better efforts on the return...  and in fact we nearly gave it back when they ruled he fumbled it (which was overturned on review).

The pick itself, however, was pretty impressive.  Very similar to the play he made against the Falcons in Week 1.

Urlacher isn't the same guy that used to cover sideline to sideline - he's quite a bit slower now.  But one thing he's doing better than he's ever done is anticipating where the QB is going to go with the ball.

3 interceptions in 7 games!

Agreed. I have really been impressed this year by that part of his game especially.

I hope we can buck this trend...

Thats the kind of stuff I was referring to when I said we have a tendency to play flat coming out of the break.

The week prior the Bears "dominated" the Vikings showing that killer instinct.  I was sick watching the Bears let the Bucs back in, but the same thing was happening with Vikes and Packers.  Any given Sunday, this isn't college football, most games always end up pretty close.  It is the rare 39-10 victory (or the Saints 62-7 over Colts) but they do happen.

The Bears are 4-1 after the Bye week over the last 5 seasons.  Just saying...

Urlacher has definitely lost at least a step and looks puffy.  As much as I hate to give Ray Lewis credit, he looks pretty much the same, though I think the talking heads go overboard on lavishing the praise.  He is not the same linebacker of 5 years ago to be sure.  His bravado keeps him in the news.  The one player I would love to pluck from the Ravens is Ed Reed.  Best safety to ever play in my opinion.

Back to Url, what he has lost in speed and gained in weight, he has definitely shown better instincts and leadership.  There is no doubt who the defense looks to as their leader on the field, not the case just a few years back when he shied away from the leader label.  3 ints for a season for a linebacker is a solid season, 3 in half a season is incredible.

I haven't checked this, but with 3 INTs Urlacher is probably leading the team in that category at this point.

I think he is tied with DJ Moore
