Crap...

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/11/11/devin-hester-doubtful-for-lions/

With the Lions having K and P issues we could have made hay with a healthy Hester.

Oh well...  Johnny Knox, it's next man up.

Lions punter hurt himself practicing kicks to backup Hansen - so he's out.  Lions put a guy on IR to bring in a new punter.  Hanson has a quad - so it will be interesting to see how it affects his kicking distance and accuracy.

In 2009 Knox went to a pro bowl based on his kick returns - not a huge dropoff.

Not sure they'll use Knox on punt returns - Bennett has done it in the past and if I recall correctly returned one for a TD against the Ravens a couple years back.

What I'm more concerned about is who plays WR.  Do they put Bennett at flanker and we see more of Sanzenbacher in the slot or does Hurd take Hester's spot?

Probably both.

At least Peppers is OK...

If we have to risk getting a WR hurt on returns I would much rather it be Knox then Bennett.

Doesn't DJ Moore have some returning experience as well?

The guy the Lions IR'd to make room for the punter is Jason Fox, a backup OT.  Which could make things interesting for them if one of their starting OTs went down.

I wonder if they'll have their P handle the kickoffs?

FWIW, latest forecast for Sunday afternoon in Chicago:

A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 58. Breezy, with a southwest wind between 20 and 25 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph.

Sounds like a good day to have a strong running game and a strong-armed QB.  Deep passes will NOT be a good idea.

This could very well be a flat let down game for the Bears.

Lots of love coming the Bears way right now in the national media.  This is traditionally when things get dangerous for them, they let down and prove the haters right.

That's funny.  It didn't happen last year.

Good article on Bears not using Knox enough.  It's time for that to change TOMORROW.

It is going to be very windy with gusts up to 40-45 mph.  The Lions have a gimpy kicker and a new punter.  Stafford has an injured finger on his throwing hand.

This should help the Bears.  Both QB's have strong arms so the short passes shouldn't be much of a problem.  However this will definately effect the deep game.  Whichever team can run the ball effectivelly and not turn the ball over should win this one.
