When Suh ripped off Cutler's helmet, he also took a kick at Cutler's exposed head.

I saw that - wasn't sure if the foot made contact with his face - that should be a $eriou$ fine!

At one point there was something reported about Cutler offering to pay the fines but I don't know if he actually is.

Bennett also said last week that the league told him it would be double the next time which would mean yesterday cost him $10K.

I dont think Stafford ever touched Moore's facemask. It looked to me like he had a hand on each side of his helmet and pulled Moore down by his helmet.

Suh pulled Cutler down by grabbing the bottom back of his helmet and lifting it off his head.

Fairley plowed Cutler into the turf.

All 3 need to pay.

Suh also gave Cutler a big push in the back a good 3-4 seconds after the play was over.  It was on that play right before halftime where Cutler's "throw" was ruled a fumble but the Lions didn't recover so we got it back.

It's not good when the refs allow your QB to be beat up that much, AT HOME, without in-game consequences for the offending team.

I was very unimpressed with the job that officiating crew did yesterday to keep the Lions in check and I hope they don't do any more Bears games. To allow the Lions to set the tone of the game -- and then eject Moore late in the game on a minor infraction when far worse incidents didn't even get flagged -- is chickensh*t all around.

From now on that crew needs to be assigned only to games that don't have playoff implications cause they were clearly not up to the task yesterday.

I did not listen to the explanation of the Cutler 'fumble' (I watch much of the game in slo-mo and fast forward through the yip yap between plays), but here is what the Trib said:

He also lost a ball when Lions defensive end Cliff Avril hit him as he threw. It might have been ruled a fumble had Cutler not hit the ball forward with his hand after he lost control of it. As it was, after a replay review, it was ruled an incomplete pass.

He had another fumble that no one thought was a fumble at the time, and subsequently there was no scramble to recover it. The ball went back to the Bears.

Huh?

I recall two Cutler fumbles.  One was obvious - the Forte handoff.  The other one was on that awkward pass when Cutler was hit by the Lion LDE.  It appeared to me that they reviewed it and gave the Lion the sack at the point of the pass attempt since the whilstle was blow on what was thought to be an incompletion.  At least that's what I thought since the next play it was 2nd and 20.

Did I miss something?

The refs and all the players thought it was an incomplete pass not a fumble.  Since no player ever picked it up by either team they ruled it a sack.  In real time it looked like a pass but slowed down Cutler lost the ball before his arm went forward then his hand hit it and shot it forward.

Cutler has some amazing arm strength.

Oh and Cutler is paying the fine for Bennett.  He had told him before the game to wear them and he would pay the fine.

The play was originally ruled an incomplete pass, then on review the refs reversed it and it went in the books as a fumble. However, since neither team made an active effort to recover the fumble, the ball reverted to Bears' possession at the spot where the ball came out of Cutler's hand.

So, although the Bears technically fumbled the ball twice that game, in the official stats the Bears are shown with only 1 turnover (since they retained possession on the other one).

That's cool. Slowly but surely Cutler is winning over the team, although I would have liked to see the OL step up for him a little more yesterday after the cheap shots.

If not monetarily as a fine then to miss a game, but they definitely need to pay.

And that referee crew shouldnt be allowed to do Bears games.

Thanks for clearing up the Cutler fumble/pass.  Its kind of a weird call to determine where the ball is spotted.  Looks like they spotted it from the throw and not where it landed.

As for retaliation, the best way for our O-line to step up against a cheap shot is to block your opponent on his azz and make first downs.

Late in the 4th quarter the Lions had a 3rd and goal from around our 10.  Then Melton gets cut block and the Bears decline the penalty.  So the Lions get 4th and goal from the 10 instead of 3rd and 25 from the 25.

I wanted them to take the penalty and that looks to be the correct decision since the Lions score their only TD of the game.  Guess it doesn't matter.

Yeah that garbage TD we gave up kind of annoyed me. I really wanted to hold them in single digits w/no TD.  It was like towards the end we didn't put any heat on Stafford at all when we should have been bringing the house in return for him jacking Moore.

But whatever. It certainly wasn't worth any of our defenders getting injured or something to stop a meaningless TD.

I haven't always thrown a lot of love Charles Tillman's way, but the job he did on Megatron yesterday was exceptional.

I'll file this game away for the next time somebody says that its time for Tillman to move to safety.  Glad to see him (and Jennings) get his first pick of the season.
