Everyone including the media seems to be enjoying kicking Webb while he's down, but I was hoping that the kid could have stuck with the team. Webb, who was thrust into the starting lineup as a rookie before he was ready and was flip flopped between 2 tackle positions struggled with consistency through most of his 44 NFL starts.
I thought his play significantly improved over the 2nd half of the season but the new coaching staff saw what they saw in training camp and Webb was released.
I think Scott is a quality right tackle and was impressed with his play last season. But I have some concerns. First, is he healthy now. He has a history of durability issues his entire career. Secondly, has he ever played LT in the pros? And he is 30, and that's not a big deal since he is not being considered as a starter long term.
I view Ebben Britten as a guard and emergency tackle - hopefully the Bears are not projecting his as the swing tackle.
