The only amazing Bear safeties that I can recall were Mike Brown and Gary Fencik.  Mark Carrier had a monster year during his rookie season.

Mike Brown.  Thanks.  I knew it was a color, but I kept hanging up on Green for some reason.

If injury hadn't ended his career, he would have been the best Bear safety of all time, in my opinion.  They have had a lot of hard hitters, like Plank and Fencik, but none that could also act as ball hawks and turnover specialists.

Mike Brown is who DaveP is thinking of.  But we also had Mike Green, a safety and Mr. Irrelevant!

Didn't they have Mr. White and Mr. Black at that time?

They may have had a Mike Green and a Dez White...don't recall a Mr. Black.

Todd Bell made the pro bowl and he and Al Harris sat out super bowl year.

Also Shaun Gale.   What no votes for Chris Hudson??

Brownie was one of the best safeties this team has had. He was a ball hawk and always around the play. Rarely did you find him ten yards off where the play happened. It was just incredibly unfortunate for him and us as fans that his health did not hold up, because he would have been a perennial pro bowler.

Nice link to the PFF article.  Hard to believe Trubisky is that bad with his second options and that the Bears' safeties haven't had any action deep down the middle.

Recall last year when they did safety rankings and we were all in disbelief of how highly Adrian Amos was rated.  Maybe teams are just avoiding him...and Jackson as well.

The PFF article assumes it knows the Bears playbook and what receiver is primary every play.
I'm not buying it.

Yeah, its kind of hard to know when a QB may be looking one way to deceive the defense and throws another.  But it does appear that when Trubisky holds the ball for long periods of time its usually not good...unless he takes off on one of his scrambles.
