I expect keeping it close to the vest today was to keep Sir Vonne and Cubby from planting Mitch in the dirt all afternoon.

That's the one thing the offense did well.

0-2 is a death sentence for a team trying to get back to the playoffs and Denver is virtually undefeated at home in weeks 1 and 2 over the last decade or so.  A conservative gameplan was always in play.  That overthrow miss to Gabriel was very disappointing, but the OL did play better at least.

Back to the drawing board for the passing game, but better off a win.  Skrine owes Eddy the most expensive steak meal in Chicago and then some.

Good win.  Definitely wasn't pretty, but the bears came through in one of the hardest places to win in the NFL.

Some random thoughts I had:
1.  The WRs  aren't as good as we thought.  I think we have a deep collection of mediocre.

2.  The D gassed because they were awful on 3rd and 4th down in the 2nd half.  Mainly due to poor tackling and the cushion our dbs give the WRs.

3.  Sick thought I had during the game was imagining trestman having an elite D year one like Nagy had.  That goober might still be here.  Nagys shine is getting dimmer every game.

Fire Nagy and hire a new head coach by lottery.

Piniero 10, Trubisky 6 and he didnt score the 6. UGH! A win is a win, I'll take it. We sure didnt deserve it. Talk about winning ugly? I fully comprehend the pain. One thing I should mention in defense,

like the Miami game last year where the heat caused us problems, the altitude played a factor today.

As I've said after the Packer game the Bears receivers get no respect.  There's no cushion - everything tight.

And with 2 of our top 4 receivers gimpy (Anthony Miller and Burton), nothing is going to change against teams with a decent pass rush and/or decent DBs.

Bears avoided the middle of the field until the very end and they got to lead the league in sideways passes at the LOS.

This is not an NFL offense.

Next couple of weeks we see defenses that aren't so familiar with our offense.

Opposing defenses will play tight man until Trubisky shows he can beat it consistently. He tends to be errant in his accuracy so they're expecting to get a pick or three.

Most of the Cubs board members provide absolutely nothing. Many add their own "negative" comments or never post. Some like Jack Birdbrain do nothing but post vicious attacks on others. But, hey, let's go to another board to **** all over one of the loyal members who has been around 20 years with 20K posts including game updates, news, and all prospect notes and boxscores.

That wasn’t very nice. You have issues.

Well.... um... a win is a win in the stats (and it is nice to finally have a kicker) but it still feels dirty somehow,  not because of the officiating (it did suck for both teams) but the fact that this Offense is would have to improve to become even terrible.....

IMHO I think Nagy has too many shiny toys to play with. He needs to concentrate on 2-3 offensive players (Robinson, Montgomery and maybe Burton) as primary and build off of that instead of just throwing **** at the wall and seeing what sticks. Right now he an ADD offensive coach.....

Glad for the win, but boy its going to be a long nail-biting season with this scatter-brain offense....

What concerned me the most was the heart of this team failed to deliver when needed.  We were up by a TD late and all they had to do was stop Denver from scoring and they couldn't.  If you want to be the best Defense in the league you can not let Denver march down the field and score a TD late.  They were 62 yards away with only 2:48 to go and couldn't stop them.  They had them in a 4th and 10 and couldn't stop them.  They had them in a 4th and 3 and couldn't stop them.

If you want to tout the Defense then they need to stand up when needed.  They didn't.  They failed.

You're right.  They did fail.  And if you ask everyone on defense if they should have stopped them on the 4th downs, they would own it and say that they should have.

But the altitude and temperature close to 90 is a powerful 12th man on offense for Denver and one of the main reasons why the Broncos are 22-2 in Week 1 or Week 2 home games since 1999.  Before yesterday, they have not lost a week 2 home game in 40 years.

And so, I am not concerned about the defense yet.

Would you rather watch a 43-0 blowout - or a 16-14 nail-biter as the clock hits 00.00?

That pass to the wide open Gabriel, where Mitch had a clean pocket is what concerns me most.  He did that a bunch last year, and they said it was his mechanics.  Looks like maybe he is reverting to some of his old bad habits again?
