I watched some goofy NFL Network shows last night.  It was interesting how there was so much focus on the Packer's Love.  Rich Eisen even predicted that he would be the most successful QB on Sunday of all starting QBs with a new team.

Just a few weeks ago we were inundated with the media focus on Justin Fields and how much he has improved.  Then he goes out against Buffalo and there is not as much hype.   Those shows on NFL Network didn't even mention his name.

BTW Bears are only 1 point favorites.

Nationally televised game. The Bears need to show improvement.

Its a mental hurdle as much as anything. The last PS game was a "WTF was THAT?!?" game for the starters and it spooks folks who have seen the Bears trip over their own dicks far too often to blame bad eyesight at Halas Hall....

The pressure is on Fields for sure but I think more so on the coaches. Last year they had less to work with than now and won 3 games. I joked with a friend who casually follows football and he asked how I thought the Bears would do. I said they should double their wins from last season. He was impressed and didn't quite get the joke....

And I still don't get why you don't run plays in preseason that you can make plays off of considering what the other team is going to defend it in regular season. That is 4D chess. Not whatever that was. It was wasted sets of downs for the offense......

Lets hope they are the geniuses they think they are. :D Go BEARS !

If Watson is out for GB that would help

When Fields threw for 14/16 156 yards 3 TD (146.9) in the 1st half alone against Cleveland in a preaseason game, I thought well hot damn he's ready to go.  Then there were times when Fields sucked so badly against Houston and Washington that I truly thought that maybe he needed a timeout from the field to watch and observe.  Preseason performance doesn't matter.  Hopefully Moore and the extra attention he brings to open up more opportunities for the other pass catchers will give him the confidence to sling it and stay in the pocket just a tick longer.  I think the designed run calls will diminish greatly this year.  OTOH, when the lanes open up, he will run and if that helps beat the Packers so be it.  If Getsy proves that he is a good enough play caller to get HC interviews then that probably means Fields is good enough to build around long term.

I've said it before - Fields lacks confidence last year.

If he can trust his line, specifically Braxton Jones and Darnell Wright I think he will feel more comfortable finding secondary receivers and not be in a rush to take off.

Same goes with his receivers.  If he knows DJ Moore is going to win those 50/50 balls and add RAC yardage he'll be more inclined to be aggressive with passes to him.  And what about Claybpool, the guy is 6-4 and has a 40" vertical and runs a 4.42 - just get him a deep ball.  Peterman in his short stint did a better job at this than Fields did over the course of the season.

Confidence builds good habits.  Lack of confidence contributes to a bad pocket presence, holding the ball/not trusting his receivers  and running prematurely.

Everyone remember last year around this time it was all the hype about Trey Lance was the best thing since sliced bread destined for the HoF and Justin Fields was a run of the mill backup QB bust at best?

Now all the love is for Love...

Let's hope history repeats itself.

Fields has to take that next step this season. He has to work the pocket better and be able to deliver the ball. We all know what he can do with his legs. Get a passing game going and he will be lethal.. Our O line will be key. I'm still a believer in the run game, you need to be able to take some of the heat off the QB..

There's so much NEW going on at Halas Hall that its going to take awhile for things to sink in.

Hopefully it will be Christmas in September ... many gifts under the tree.

NOT a lump of coal in a used dripping condom hung on the fireplace.

I have the Fox pre pregame on (I know, right). Game hasn't even started and they're declaring Love to be the next coming. Fields? "We know he can run, can he pass"...

If I have to endure another Packers QB laying the continual smack down on the Bears, I'm finished with football..

If they lose today, it’s probably because they couldn’t block Kenny Clark and Rashan Gary.

Do they know the starting line yet?  What’s with Nate Davis?
