I like the move. Our D should be be somewhat improved. Think back to a couple of years ago and the Mel tucker D. That'll make ya ill..

I think that's a smart move by the Bears. Besides I doubt Young had any trade value with his current status. Maybe with a new contract somebody might give us something of value.

Mel Tucker. Thank you for ruining my lunch. Chicago Bear defense, land of the 50 burgers. Players standing around looking at a live ball. I remember whining on the old trib board about how bad our defense was. Hadn't a clue as to what I was talking about.
Still don't understand the Slauson move. Total WTF as far as I'm concerned, but then again, I went into total panic mode when Todd Bell and Al Harris held out. Mine Gott! says I, give them what they want! Got replaced by
a Dureson and Dent.

I have to give credit to Pace for getting a draft choice from Carolina for Jared Allen.

I probably am reading into it too much.  But interesting that they are trying to extend Young right after they got good look at Floyd during rookie camp.  Maybe does not bode so well for Floyd?

I kind of doubt Floyd running around in a tshirt improved Young's stock.  Young proved last year he was on the way back from his injury.  Having Young in place gives us time to develop Floyd, but I am hoping his performance continues to climb.  What team out there says we have too many pass rushers?!  Not one ever...

I think the issue wasn't the Bears appreciation for Young- it was Young's appreciation for the Bears - more specifically their defensive setup.  As the year went on Young proved that he could succeed in a 3-4 and now maybe both sides are agreeable to extending his stay.

I like our front 7 now.  Sure you'd probably like an additional proven 3-4 DE and maybe another backup NT (not sure why they let Gaston go) but we should now have adequate depth at DE, MLB and OLB.

With the additions at safety we have depth but you never know with rookies.

CB is still kind of scary - I have a feeling we'll be watching the waiver wires for quite a while.

As for the backup NT I am supposing they are depending on the development of Terry Williams. I know they liked him enough last year to keep him on the practice squad. Its up to him to make the active roster.

If we didn't build enough DEFENSE with F.A. and the Draft ...

then we will NEVER build enough DEFENSE with F.A. and the Draft.

...that's why they have a draft and free agency in 2017.

Hey if Floyd doesn't work out at LB, maybe they can put him at TE  :P

JJ we just aren't going to win many 58-57 games. You need defense too not just offense. And you don't just draft defense every 10 years and expect it to last forever

Not that it matters, and it was an extremely long time ago, but Wasn't Harris a left end, while Dent played right end?

I loved Todd Bell.  He was an extremely underrated player.  But Buddy Ryan molded a team never missed a beat.

I know it's early, but, when I hear spindley and linebacker in the same sentence it makes me leery..

I hope like heck Kevin White brings it this season. A healthy White with a healthy Jeffery will go a long way. Too bad Bennett had to go. We'll see how it goes with the Pat's, if he keeps his mouth shut and plays he'll be fine. Otherwise, he'll be looking for another team. Pat's won't put up with it..
