I would literally bet my house that the Bears would not take a QB at 8.

The Bears and Ravens each had a first-ballot Hall of Famer in this year’s class, and now their fans have another reason to travel to Canton for the induction ceremony.

The NFL announced today that the Bears and Ravens will meet in the Hall of Fame Game on August 2.

Chicago and Baltimore are easy choices for the NFL, as Brian Urlacher and Ray Lewis were both selected to the 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame class. Plenty of fans from both cities will make the trip to Ohio for the game, and for the enshrinement ceremony.

In addition to Urlacher and Lewis, this year’s class consists of Bobby Beathard, Robert Brazile, Brian Dawkins, Jerry Kramer, Randy Moss and Terrell Owens.

The Chicago Bears have hired a new head trainer, and strength and conditioning coach after electing to make changes to their staff late last month.

According to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, the Bears have hired Andre Tucker to serve as their head trainer and Jason Loscalzo as the new strength and conditioning coach. The hiring of Loscalzo was first reported by FootballScoop.com.

The Bears elected to part ways with trainer Nate Breske in late January. Strength coaches Jason George and Rick Perry were also not retained.

The Bears finished the season with 16 players on injured reserve after having 21 players end up on injured reserve in 2016.

Tucker has 15 years of NFL experience and had spent the past eight seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He’d also worked for the Atlanta Falcons, Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins.

Loscalzo had been the strength and conditioning coach at Washington State University.

Reading some good things about Loscalzo:

#Bears seem to being hiring Strength & Conditioning Coach Jason Loscalzo from WSU. Smart hire. He preaches core strength, efficiency over volume and specific player programs. Very different from the last group.

Brad Bigg's review of Freeman:

The signing of Jerrell Freeman to a three-year deal when Trevathan was added as a major piece (four-year, $28 million contract with $15.5 million guaranteed) has not worked out. Freeman was celebrated for leading the team in tackles in 2016 despite missing four games to suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs, but the metrics used by those who supported Freeman simply didn’t add up. He lacked the athletic ability to be a dynamic player in the middle of the defense and didn’t play with the same range as Trevathan.

Inside linebackers in this scheme should pile up tackle statistics, so that alone didn’t make Freeman anything more than an average player. Now at 31 and coming off a second PED suspension as well as a concussion suffered in the season opener against the Falcons when he tore a pectoral muscle, it would be a stunner if Freeman returned under new coach Matt Nagy. If Freeman does not retire, the Bears will almost certainly terminate his contract.

Freeman is the best ILB on the Bears against the run PERIOD.  You can talk about Trevathian and Kwiatowski getting penciled in as starters ahead of Freeman and his injuries and the PED suspension and the $4M salary as reasons for the Bears cutting him but don't call him just another guy and lacking athletic ability.

Who are these guys?

The Matt Nagy honeymoon continues, but I agree with one thing they said....it's a Bears town...

The Bears need to invest in more than a slot receiver. Besides they did that last year too.

Every coaching hire is 'the guy' until he proves otherwise and there's been too much of that with this team. Proof is in the pudding....

Yes, they need to invest in a speed WR, a couple CBs, a pass rushing OLB, maybe an offensive lineman, backup NT, etc. etc. etc.

And the slot guy they got last year was a good signing and turned out to be their best WR, but Landry is one of the best in the league.
