Bears match.  I read its 4 years 56 million.  18 million guaranteed, all in the first year.

Whats most interesting is the guaranteed money in the 1st year with the Pack having to pay Erin.

The Packers did the Bears a favor.  ****, sit back for the full amount of allowable time and match at the last minute which keeps the Packers **** from getting any more free agents.

Brad Biggs

@BradBiggs
Let's try this 1 more time. Can't leave royalty out of the equation.

Top #Bears contracts now in terms of APY (average per year):
CB Kyle Fuller $14M
WR Allen Robinson $14M
DE Akiem Hicks $12M
RG Kyle Long $10M
LT Charles Leno $9.25M
CB Prince Amukamara $9M
TE Trey Burton $8M
9:07 PM - Mar 16, 2018

25

I am not sure Kyle Fuller is a top 5 CB in the league.  However with our cap situation I can understand why we spent the money.

Yes, he has really improved since his rookie year.  I'd have liked a couple more years actually.

As for Fuller, I'm not a capologist, I'll leave that to the experts.  But I'm thinking, does the amount of the contract significantly hurt the Bears or does it just hurt the McCaskey's.  Bonuses can be spread out over the life of the deal even though they may be paid up front.  Fuller is 26 and could easily last 2 maybe 3 or more years of the deal.  And they can always restructure any contract.

What this shows is the Packers weakness in their secondary and there concern for an up an coming threat from the Bears who right now are an interior lineman and a pass rushing OLB away from fielding a pretty good team in 2018.

But the real key about adding all these weapons, especially on offense, is that it comes down to one guy being able to take advantage and produce.

Maybe, maybe not.  But he was among the top 2 or 3 in passes defended in the NFL.  I don't know what his PFF grade was but I'd bet he was near the  top 10.

And if the Bears don't sign him they get more money to sign some also ran leftover FA and possibly HAVE to take a corner with the 8th pick in the draft.  And the Pack fill a big hole on their defense.

March 16th - Long snapper Andrew DePaola is signed away by the Raiders. He is now the highest paid long snapper in the NFL.

Bears tight end Dion Sims remained on the team’s roster today and now has $4MM of his $6MM base salary fully guaranteed for 2018, as Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune (on Twitter) notes.

Not all TEs are the same.  There are blocking TEs and receiving TEs.  Simms and Shaheen are traditional, while Burton, Brown and Braunecker are receiver types.

Chiefs offense has a lot of dual TE formations so the Bears can go big with Shaheen and Sims, plus each can backup the other for injuries.
