This Athletic discount might work.  Otherwise get on the mailing list and they have similar promos or flash sales around the 4th and other holidays...

Jahns says Kmet and Goodwin stood out in OTAs, but of course it's early...

2018 opener against the Packers on NFLN now.

I won’t watch knowing the outcome.

I did watch the second drive and Trubisky was brilliant.
He was seeing the field throwing to second and third options accurately.

Makes you wonder what went wrong from there.

This brought back some memories (I only ever saw the Dallas game as I was overseas and had to watch it on videotape and never got to see the Bears game).

Uh oh:

Bears defensive tackle Eddie Goldman was absent without leave from today’s start of the team’s mandatory minicamp.

Chicago head coach Matt Nagy confirmed Goldman’s absence and said it was not excused. Nagy did not say where Goldman is but did say that he believes Goldman will show up for training camp.

Goldman opted out of the 2020 season because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Bears have been saying all offseason that they expect Goldman back in 2021.

The 27-year-old Goldman is due a base salary of $4.75 million this season and is under contract through the 2023 season.

Wonder if he has turned into a tub of goo over the last year off. It is hard to stay focused when you already are set for life.....

We really don't know his reasons.  He may not feel that its safe to come back to training camp.

More of a chance getting hit by a car (or in a car accident) than anything that can happen in camp, unless of course it happens on the way to camp- then all bets are off :). At least he's not out at 3:00 AM in strip clubs (or if he is he's smart enough not to get photographed or in trouble and off the police blotter !

Attn Eddie Goldman:

The Bears have agreed to terms with free agent defensive tackle Mike Pennel on a one-year deal, his agent, Andy Simms, announced.

Pennel served a two-game suspension to open the 2020 season but played the other 14 with the Chiefs. He made 29 tackles.

Pennel, 30, entered the league as an undrafted free agent out of Colorado State-Pueblo in 2012, signing with the Packers.

Pennel played three seasons with the Packers, two with the Jets and two with the Chiefs. In seven NFL seasons, he has appeared in 91 games with 16 starts.

Pennel has 155 tackles, eight tackles for loss, two sacks and 13 quarterback hits in his career.

Insurance if Eddie decides to retire or not report again this season.  Pennel is solid but not a Goldman.

Life begins for most people when they are aware enough to realize how old they are. The Bears moved SF when I was like 5 years old, so in essence they've played there my whole life.  I've never been to a live game, but I've talked with tons of folks over the years who have been. Nostalgia is a powerful drug. Something to do with forgetting the bad and only remembering the good.

That said, it would sadden me to see them leave, but at the same time, the chance for a domed stadium (it had better be if they do move) so that they can host a SB is a powerful drug. Its easy to see why moving from the political cess-pool machine currently headed by Lori Lightweight and her cronies is also a powerful incentive. And not having to deal with the brain-dead lead weight that is the Park District would be a definite plus....

I'm still kind of mixed, however considering that financial burden will be laid out on the citizens (there's no way the McCaskey's pay for much of the thing), and with the way Crook County is run you just KNOW it will be overbudget at least 2x or more.

I still think its a negotiating ploy... but we'll see....
