I think there's going to have to be some shenanigans when it comes to the inheritance tax (which is BS anyway)......

Say what:

Nose tackle Eddie Goldman was an unexcused absence at the Bears’ mandatory minicamp after opting out of 2020 over COVID-19 concerns.

The Bears repeatedly have said they expect Goldman to return for training camp, which begins later this month. However, until he shows up for work or speaks publicly, Goldman’s future remains in doubt.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune cited a league source who suggested Goldman “could be weighing retirement.”

Goldman, 27, has not played since the first quarter of the team’s Dec. 22, 2019, loss to the Chiefs at Soldier Field.

The Bears surely hope for the return of Goldman, who is scheduled to make $4.75 million in base salary this season after having his contract toll. They ranked 15th in run defense in 2020 without him.

The team did cover itself in the event Goldman doesn’t play this season, adding veteran Mike Pennel last month. That late signing would seem to indicate the Bears also have a question about whether Goldman intends to play this season.

Well at least he hasn't turned to a tub of goo in his off-time.....

Bears need to be seriously looking at guys who can play that position (at least for the future draft), as hard as good ones are hard to find as his "commitment" to playing is somewhat in question.....

Did you see him working out with the weights?  You don't do that unless you're committed.

I doubt there is much a veteran nose tackle is going to get from minicamp.

I don’t get caught up in these gossip articles sites are putting out to generate clicks.

But the biggest potential change comes in Green Bay, where the Packers are facing a future without Aaron Rodgers, whose intentions appear to not play for the organization again. If that’s the case, the Bears quite possibly went from the worst quarterback situation to the best in the division.

much yuck.

Goldman not only upgrades the NT position but now Nichols can get more snaps at DE.  Looking forward to seeing newcomers Blackson and the rookie Tonga. The D-line could be the strongest/deepest unit on defense.  But one of the rookies I'm eager to see is Charles Snowden.   Some project him at DE but he looks like a natural OLB.

Still concerned about cornerback and more concerned about nickel.
