Seems to be a good draft for centers, too…but if Schmitz is there for us at #53, I’d be hard pressed to pass him up.

We've got Cody and Patrick and Kramer to battle it out at center.

The only real need on the O-line is RT.  Next, its d-lline all day every day every pick.  Maybe throw in a corner too.

Maybe you can get lucky and find a Hilgenberg later in the draft, but the d-line is still the worst in THE ENTIRE NFL.

Let's put names on the hypothetical.  If Carter, Skorinski, and Paris Johnson are all there at 9, who do you take?

Paris if he is there for sure.  If the C Shmitz is there in the second I grab him too.  I have seen him go at the end of the first or start of the second.  Same goes for the DT from Northwestern who had the amazing combine.

So that would mean you move Braxton Jones to RT or let Paris play there or give Tevin another shot at it.  Or Alex Leatherwood.  Then the only thing lacking is a LT, and we still have Whitehair.

Carter.  Then Paris Johnson.  Skorinski is not on my list.  Everything I've read says he projects to guard.  Nothing against guards but not in the top 10 unless he's Zach Martin or Quenton Nelson.

If Carter's there Bears can snag a RT in R2 (though they may have to do some trading to get up in 30s to get a quality guy).

Tevin Jenkins was ranked by PFF as the 3rd highest guard in the NFL.  Why would you put him at tackle where he was barely average at LT and RT?  Leatherwood was tried by the Raiders at tackle and was kicked inside.  You saw him at RT last year and they had to bench him cuz he was getting Fields killed.  Now maybe he sucked cuz he was still getting over mono but they can give him a shot in training camp but I think he's the #1 guard off the bench in '23.

Now if you believe that either Jenkins or Leatherwood is an option at RT why did Poles go after McGlinchey so hard?  He was offering him something like $17M a year and only losT out because the Broncos increased the guaranteed money which Poles decided was too much for a good not great RT.

If Bears draft Paris then I think they should be open to experimenting with Jones at RT to see how he adapts.  Jones was the top rookie tackle in the NFL and I think was ranked in the top 20 of all tackles.   But I can understand that if Paris is drafted at 9 that he might believe he's entitled to the starting job.

Competition is great.

I think RT is the way to go. Give the OL time to gel and protect Fields so he doesn’t have to run for his life.

If they are all three there there is no question who I would pick and thats Carter. Now if Carter is gone then my choice would be Paris Johnson next

Personally I dont rate CB higher than a 3 technique. I think a CB at #9 is a foolish move
