A couple of college players I would like to see the Bears draft.  I live in Florida and am a UF alumni.  My daughter currently attends FSU, son UCF.  I watch a lot of Florida college football.

Ricky Pearsall WR UF.  Not the biggest, not the fastest.  Great hands, not afraid to take a hit.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH6Px6HNLcQ

Most people familiar with his one handed highlight catch.  However watch how many misplaced passes by Mertz that he catches.  Many time the ball thrown way behind him, but he still makes the grab.

I have seen him in mocks go 3-4th round.  Personally would spend a third round pick on him.  He is money and will make whoever is playing QB look good.

Speaking of QB's I am amazed there is not more buzz about Jordan Travis out of FSU.  Guy is a winner.  Yes he was surrounded by great skill players but FSU went IMO favorites to win National Championship to stink when he went down with injury.  If that does not show value of a QB, not sure what would.

I have seen most draft projections in round 4.  Now he is coming off a broken leg but I really think whoever takes Jordan in 4th round or later (if he truly last that long) is going to get a steal.

The buzz around Caleb Williams is he creates much like Mahommes.  Extends plays, etc.  Well I think Jordan Travis has done that better than anyone the last two season of college football.

These are two guys that I would take 3rd and 4th round, if they are there.

Hiber - Didn't watch all of either video, but sign me up for Travis in the scenario where Fields is retained.  If we could get him in the fifth, that would be great.  Pearsall looks great, but i think we end up taking a WR early.  3rd would be pretty early to not be filling offensive line needs.  If we don't grab  WR early, then I'd have interest later.

Appears we have already taken estimates on Field's worth already. Where there is smoke there is fire

Dave, if the big 3 WR are gone before #9, but Bowers and one (or more) of the OTs are available, who do you take?

This year there’s not much on defense worthy of a top 15 pick.
Reportedly the pass rushers aren’t in the Will Anderson class.

Would they consider throwing some of that free agent money at DE Josh Allen or Dt Christian Wilkins?  They’re both right at the top of their positions so will be expensive.

This THE wildest pieces of crap I have read:

https://bearswire.usatoday.com/2024/02/21/bears-justin-fields-trade-rumors-raiders-have-genuine-interest/?newsletter_origin=bearswire.usatoday.com&newsletter_post_position=5&email=***redacted***

According to NFL expert Tony Pauline, the Las Vegas Raiders have “genuine interest” in Fields and are expected to explore a trade for him.

The Raiders are expected to move on from quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason, and Pauline notes new general manager Tom Telesco is interested in landing a “big name” at quarterback.

Las Vegas isn’t in a position to draft one of the top quarterback prospects at 13th overall, but Fields, 24, is a young, exciting player they could build around. There are already pieces in place with wide receivers Davante Adams and Jakobi Meyers.

The Raiders recently hired Luke Getsy as their new offensive coordinator, which means it would be a reunion for Fields and Getsy, who spent two years together in Chicago. It would also mean a smooth transition for Fields, who has two years of experience in Getsy’s offense.

Before we start cherry picking FA d-lineman you got to look at their team's cap.  Miami is one of the worst teams in the league in regard to cap space.  Minnesota (Danielle Hunter) and the Jaguars (Allen) are in middle of the road shape.

I thought I read recently that the Raiders would NOT be interested in Fields.  Do you think Fields would want to work under Getsy again?  Part of Field's expected growth in 2024 with the Bears would be due to GEtsy's departure.

Bowers is pure BPA if he was somehow gifted at 9.  I probably take him over Rome.  And Waldron loves 12 personnel.

I haven’t watched Rome enough to say that, but I have seen his NFL comp is Jamarr Chase. That works for me.

He’s also obviously at a bigger positional need.

Still…it’s Bowers. He’s the truth. Draft Bowers, sign Higgins, and take a WR later in the draft.

Lots of mock drafts now have Rome going before our pick at 9.

If both Bowers and Rome are gone, I'll lean to trading back especially if J.J. if still available.  The talent gap between the top edges is not that wide.  I feel like the Bears will invest in edge in FA instead.  And like it or not, Poles appears confident that Braxton will continue to improve.
