I like this for several reasons but I dont believe we are getting enough. The main reason I like it is they get Rattler in the 4th round to develop and they do address many of our obvious needs

Poles would - quite literally - be murdered by the fan base for this.  Fortunately for both him and us, he's not a moron.

Peter King is retiring and on his way out making a case the Bears should keep Fields.

He says doing so with the trades they control the draft the next 2 years and will get several difference makers.

This offsets one qb with about a 50% chance of NFL success.  Even adding 10% with his work ethic and outstanding skills he still isn’t worth the alternative.

I’m not even sure anyone is really going to offer the big haul for the first pick.  And it’s possible teams that do draft well after the top 10.

What he is suggesting is not going to happen.

Living in DC and listening to sports talk radio most of the callers are totally against any form of tradeup to get Williams.

You think nobody is going to offer a haul or just  Washington?

To my way of thinking because of their new management they are the most logical to try to move up to numero uno for their fav

IMHO since Poles has already fielded interest in trading down at the Senior Bowl, it will be open season at the combine, like last year when the deal got cut .

Or perhaps their new management might be lukewarm at best to moving up after experiencing the Trey Lance debacle first hand.

Before the Bears trade down, they should decide who will be the worst team in the NFL next year.  We might as well get the first pick next year also.

Not saying that.  Washington giving up this year's first and second and next year's first to move up one spot?  That is what I don't believe will happen.  I just don't think Washington is going to mortgage the future with this new regime.

It seems like quite the price to pay to move up 1 spot.  But the thinking is that you are getting the supposed best player in college who happens to play the most important position.  I look at it not as a trade to move up 1 spot but  a trade for Caleb Williams.

Throw the draft charts out the window - the #1 pick is worth whatever you can get from one team.

Oh I am with you.  But, from a fanbase look living in DC they are very opposed to it.  Most of the viewpoint is why would you give up future #1's and #2's at all when trying to rebuild?

Put yourself in their shoes.  Would you embrace that scenario for CW?  Or would you just take Maye at #2?  Our would you trade down for more draft capital?

Maye not throwing.

Talent wise CW is the best QB in this draft by a wide margin IMO.  Poles would demand a whole planet and the kitchen sink to give them the opportunity to draft him.  And I would be surprised if the Commies bite.

They’re in the same situation we are…”been there, done that” with UNC QBs…
