Peppers still had some gas left in the tank, but he just wasn't motivated/trying.  That is what pisses me off about him.  Allen, meh, he is running on fumes.

Agreed.  I can't recall the specifics but in 2013 MORE than half of his games he had a single tackle or less.  He had that rep in Carolina of not playing with motivation but we never saw it until 2013 with the Bears.

I was going to say the same thing. He had that reputation in Carolina. I believe he didn't care for Lovie being let go..

I actually like the fact those players were let go. Made me reminisce when we were good, though. Olsen, Tillman, Peppers were all impact players at one time. We have very few of those left anymore. Allen was a gimme. He wasn't doing jack and I think he's pretty much done regardless where he's at. Peppers was a jerk. He had some left and held it back more than likely like was said...because Lovie was let go... Tillman just couldn't stay healthy.

Peppers just needed real a football organization to play for with quality coaches and players.

Winning also helps the desire.

I'd bet Butkus wasn't on too many winning teams - nobody every questioned his desire.

Statistically he's had a huge drop off since 2013.  Is that due to the problems at QB for the 49ers or that Davis is now 31?

Change of scenery should help him but when guys get around that 30 year old mark (including Brandon Marshall) the high draft picks are harder to pry away for them.

Well they are underperforming badly, so it's hard to fault the owner for doing it. You have the talent and yet are playing worse than the Bears. Something had to be done...

funny thing is the GM is supposed to draft talent, and they have. They just can't seem to win. I guess they keep hiring the wrong coaches.

Did the hiring of Caldwell inspire anyone?
