Honestly, you replace Trevathan with him, IMO.

Trevathan's cap hit makes it difficult for the Bears to cut or trade.  Trevathan struggled early on but I noticed his play improved in the 2nd half.

Damn cheesy censors over at ProFootballTalk refused to post my comment on one of the stories. I even tried a few variations on the theme :(

The story was headlined "The awkward dance continues between the Packers, Aaron Rodgers"

And my comment was:

Of course its awkward ! They are dancing to the tune from "Deliverance", and when the music stops, someone is going to get screwed in the end....

Nothing wrong with that comment, right ? :D

Watched Cubs/Cardinals yesterday since I don't get many games living out of state.

Man that was some bad baseball.  I don't know if the cubs have any starters hitting over 240.  They look at a fastball across the plate then swing at a breaking ball in the dirt.  Cards tried to give them the game with three batters hit by pitch in two innings along with a walk and Cubs couldn't score.

They talk about trading their star players but they haven't hit well in 3 years.  Team is a mess.

Cubs batters want to hit the long ball every at bat.  Don't take enough walks.

The losing doesn't bother me - I'm used to it.   At least I have memories of 2016...

FWIW if anything from last-night's Bill-Lions game is any outlier (they may not be) Trubisky looks like he's going to be relegated to Bills 3rd string. The announcers lied though- they said McDermot said they would let Trubisky air it out some- and mostly he handed it off or went 1 for 1 throwing......

Panthers just traded Greg Little to the Dolphins for a 7th rounder next year.

I would have been all over that.

Why do football coaches always wear jackets in hot weather?

Wow:

The Patriots haven’t only given their starting quarterback job to Mac Jones. They’ve gotten rid of Cam Newton altogether.

Newton has been released, according to Jim McBride of the Boston Globe.

That’s the biggest shock of all of today’s 53-man roster cutdown transactions. Jones and Newton were viewed as in close competition for the starting quarterback job, but everyone was expecting that if Jones won the job, Newton would be his backup.

Instead, Newton will now hit free agency, and he’ll likely have offers from other teams looking for a veteran quarterback — but he won’t have much time to learn a new offense as he heads to his third NFL team.

This puts more pressure on Nagy to start Fields.   Hopefully, Newton gets claimed quickly.  I like having Foles as our #3, as one of the top QBs available to other teams if their starter goes down.  Saturday's performance enhanced his value.
