Does it matter when the Bears can't draft right to save their lives, JJ?? All ya gotta do is delve into their draft history...if you dare....it's horrible. They hit a few times and miss all over the place....

Under past management this has been true.

Think about this Sporty ... could we like see Roquan Smith back here soon ?

 Like next year ?

You're right every GM has to be judged independently.  But right now Poles draft is so-so.  Would our top 2 picks Brisker and Gordon make an all-rookie team?  Braxton Jones and the punter Gill have better odds.

As for Smith, Ravens could re-sign him or just tag him or let him loose in free agency and get a 3rd round comp pick in '24.  Not sure that he would want to come back to the Bears unless they showed him some love.

This offseason will tell the true value of Roquan, won't it?  Though Shaq Leonard is now out for the season with back surgery, I have a feeling players around the league will stuff the box for Smith so he gets paid, and he is having a good season by most standards.  If he doesn't get the $20 million he was asking for and settles for say $18, I wonder if we will ever know what the Poles offer was?

The Bears chances of making the playoffs this year are like the real name of that cowboy.   And he just left town.

What an interesting day in football to say the least yesterday.... The Vikings get completely blown out and the Jets lose in the most Jets'iest way possible. Entertaining games at least....

Maybe Bears get to do some FA shopping in Minnesota if they are over the cap.

The Ravens only have one tag.  They have two tag worthy FA's.  If they don't sign one or the other before the deadline then one of them is hitting the market and there is no way they tag Roquan before Lamar.  I think they both want to test the market so I don't think either one will sign before the deadline.

Isn't there also a transition tag?  Are those even used anymore?

The franchise tag dollar figure need to be modified.  There's a big difference between a 3-4 pass rushing edge guy vs a 4-3 linebacker.  The linebacker franchise tag is higher than any other position on defense.

Teams can use one of the other not both.

The teams have the option of using one of three tags.

  • Non-Exclusive Franchise Tag
  • Exclusive Franchise Tag
  • Transitions Tag
