Green Bay Packers' Josh Sitton poised for big year - ESPN
Sitton has told his family and friends who haven't been to Lambeau yet that this is the right time to make the trip; after all, there's a good chance that he might not be back in a Packers uniform next season.

Jared Cook 'an artist' with untapped potential | Packersnews.com
The word "artist" is what Matt Hasselbeck used to describe the new Packers tight end. From improvising on a crucial late-season play (which got him yelled at by the coaches the next day) to being frustrated by his team in St. Louis. Now with Aaron Rodgers, Cook has his chance to become a star at 29 years old.

That’s all the more reason for the players to tread lightly when submitting to their interviews. If the league chooses to twist their words in order to find guilty in connection with the initial decision, the Commissioner or his designee will be less likely than an arbitrator would have been to reject that conclusion.

As recently explained, it’s possible that the league simply wants to exonerate the players, in the same way that quarterback Peyton Manning was exonerated. But there’s still reason to be concerned that a different agenda exists — especially since the current PED testing program so rarely (if ever) catches actual cheaters. And if the league decides to distort the players’ words into a finding of guilt, the Commissioner will still have final say, even though as to the rest of the PED policy he no longer does.

What is that last post from?  If PFT, that guy throws more schit on the wall than most other publications out there.  Never afraid to give his opinion...

Don't they all?  Just use a good filter.

Several Bear fans have made the same point, though.

Florio.  Mike Florio.

The NFL Union agreed to the power and authority of the Commissioner's Office.  In turn, they received many things they wanted.  So when the commissioner exercises his authority, the player can look at themselves.

I am looking forward to the next negotiation and having that spectre removed from the NFL.  Judge, jury, and executioner.  But until that time comes, this is the system that the players bargained for in good faith.

Florio throws out more conspiracy theories than anything.  I am kind of believing Pekin's theory that the Manning's came to some sort of deal to make this go away.  Interesting times ahead.

Who knows?

The troublesome issue is that the commissioner sets the rules and hands down an immutable ruling.  Pete Rozelle and the original group of owners who formed this powerful organization would have had a better solution than this.

Do you trust the commissioner?  Yes or no.

I would say in general I trust him more than the players...  are players looking for an undetectable edge?  Absolutely.  Goodell is trying to uphold the image and ethics of the league and he is being heavy handed to prevent it from becoming Nascar.  Saints scandal, Deflategate, players and coaches trying to find any edge to win.  I believe Goddell has no axe to grind, but will come down hard on any perceived ethical issue and then let the facts sort themselves out

HOF Game lawyer: “I know fraud occurred”

Posted by Mike Florio on August 23, 2016, 3:21 PM EDT

On Monday, the first tangible suggestion emerged that fraud occurred in connection with the cancellation of the Hall of Fame Game, with quotes from Colts punter Pat McAfee coupled with a statement from lawyer Michael Avenatti making it clear that, eventually, the lawsuit filed two weeks ago will be revised to assert deliberate deceit. The Hall of Fame thereafter called the accusation “totally baseless.” Appearing on Tuesday’s PFT Live, I asked Avenatti why he believes fraud happened...

More grief for Goodell.  Still trust him and the legion of money-grabbers?  I don't trust either side very much.

Green Bay Packers linebackers Clay Matthews and Julius Peppers interviewed with the NFL on Wednesday and there is good news to report.

According to Dan Graziano of ESPN.com, there was no new evidence or allegations presented to Matthews or Peppers in their PED interviews. It was the same for Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker James Harrison who interviewed on Thursday in Pittsburgh.

I have seen so many political cartoons that these hardly register, Peke.  I do get the message, though.   -
