Buddy of mine from way back I worked with mid 80s at a electronics/music store got C19 couple weeks back and almost didn't make it. He made the calls to his sons saying goodbye. Was on a vent for two days and made it through. He's a year older than me. Guy a bit younger than him, 51 next to him didn't make it. This hits too close to home for me. I'm thinking there are different protocols in different places that are either helping/hurting your chances at survival. Here in Indiana in my county the death rate has barely budged for three weeks now. Our hospitalization rate is way down as is the vent useage rate. In other areas, it's the opposite. I just don't get this.....at all.... Another guy I work with, age 46, just had it and only had a very sore throat and lost some weight and is still dealing with some taste or smell loss and that's it. He recovered quickly. It's good that the vast majority who get this will be fine but that other tiny percent that can get it bad and die....it's just bizarre.... roll of the dice.
