And the worse case scenario happens:

Bears rookie quarterback Justin Fields‘ first NFL start ended with a loss and it may have ended with an injury as well.

Head coach Matt Nagy told reporters after the 26-6 loss to the Browns that Fields may have dinged up his hand on the final play of the game. He didn’t elaborate on what might have happened, but there should be more word in the coming hours about the rookie’s condition.

Fields was 6-of-20 for 68 yards through the air on Sunday and he added 12 yards on three rushing attempts. The Bears only had 47 net yards of offense and Nagy blamed himself for the unit’s shortcomings.

“I obviously as a head coach did not do a good enough job of getting this offense ready. . . It starts with me. It ends with me,” Nagy said, via Chris Emma of 670 The Score.

Andy Dalton‘s outlook for Week Four is uncertain because of a knee injury. If he and Fields can’t go, Nagy will be trying to get the offense ready for Nick Foles‘ first start of the season.

As Truman said the buck stops here.

At some point there needs to be accountability. If the guy keeps being the problem, deal with it. This is obviously going to be a wasted season....

Boogie,

I agree gotta get rid of the team cancers.  Eddie Goldman basically giving coaches, gm, teammates and fans double middle fingers for past year and a half.  Flat out stealing money.  Additionally Eddie Jackson is afraid of contact.  He should not be playing in NFL.

The difficult decisions would make our team better.  Just because you have talent does not mean you have heart, determination, etc.  We need guys that give it their all, not some of these jokers that we have on this team.

Oline was brutal today.  You can see why Dalton/Nagy was going with quick hitch passing game against Bengals/Rams.  No time to let a play develop down field.

What I feared (and knew in my heart) happened. Nagy is a **** idiot. Even the most incompetenly coached teams in the NFL today can scheme for at least 14 points.

Leave it to the genius to game plan a mobile QB as if he was a statue. He and this coaching "staph" are going to ruin the kid before he gets going.

It was a bad feeling when they retained Pace/Nagy at the end of last year- and when Nagy said he was taking back play calls, I just knew it would not end well.....

Like I said earlier- the Bears are the new Browns.....

LOL! Currently on Nagy's Wikipedia page:

Matthew Nagy (/ˈnɛɡi/ NEH-ghee or /ˈnæɡi/ NAG-ee;[1][2][3][4] born April 24, 1978) is an American football coach and former arena football quarterback who is currently the worst play caller ever for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL).

When your O-line is over matched it really doesn't matter what plays you call.  Bears offense seems basic.   Montgomery up the middle.  Passes to WRs that stop and wait for the ball - nothing in stride.   No deep balls.  No screens.

That first 3rd down the entire Cleveland defense is on the left side and there isn't a defensive end on the right side.  Just a CB on Mooney 10 yards back.  3rd and 2.   Sweep left is destroyed.

Fields stares down his primary and throws into double coverage.  Doesn't feel the pressure - doesn't step up.   Holds the ball way too long - nothing quick.

Nagy knew that Fields wasn't ready but the city of Chicago didn't believe him.

Stop defending him.  He could have and should have gone with a fullback and ran the ball out of the I but he just can't bring himself to do it.

Nagy makes the same mistakes over and over.  His ego is to big for the job.  He doesn't have the talent to run the scheme he wants to run but he runs it anyway but dumbed down.

You can't run the Chiefs offense with this O-line.  It just doesn't work against elite talent.  It is barely serviceable against inferior talent.

You run the ball with a fullback and loosen up the defense.

You don't get your QB killed.  There is a reason Dalton is hurt and it isn't because Nagy is good at his job.

Dalton would have been carted off the field today if he had played.  Same with Foles.

I think we are going to go through all three QB's before this season is over if he doesn't change his scheme or the O-line doesn't magically improve.

Oh bullsh!t, 90 percent of the league have an average to below average OL.  Good coaches find a way to SCHEME ("it's scheme Brad 100% it's scheme") their way to more than a yard per play on offense.  You think the Texans had to have an elite OL to score 21 on these a$$holes last week?  Yes the Bears OL made Cleveland way better than they really are, but it is up to the coach to adjust.

This is full on Trestman 2.0 and he's got to go.  Loggains and Shoop were boring boobs but they never looked this clueless...

This team has had trash on the Oline too long. A good team is built from the trenches first. Not the Bears. They ignore the Oline in the first half of the draft most of the time and when they do pick high they misfire. We've watched this team for a long long time. When was the last time they had a very good line?? Anyone remember?? How was the line in 85?? Stellar, one of the best, so much so that we still remember their names decades later. They NEED to build the friggin trenches!!!!
This certainly isn't to say the play calling isn't FUBAR because it's horrible and they called out the staff on that side of the ball. You cannot play at this level competently doing what they're doing. It is not working.

They've got to move on from Nagy, however it happens. This guy is not getting it done and he's totally clueless. How many times are we going to hear 'it starts with me, I didn't get it done' again and again and again. There HAS to be accountability and they cannot afford to get their supposed franchise QB killed out there!
