Sanborn and Gates stood out at LB. Caleb Johnson solid as usual.

I've never heard of Tevon Coley, but he stood out at DT.

Brisker looks like a stud.

Altho Dazz Newsome caught a pass for a TD he dropped a pass and flubbed a punt return. I don't get the guy, how'd he rack up great stats at North Carolina? Was it all because Sam Howell was his QB?

Stat sheet says they didn't even throw a single pass to St Brown.

didn't like the play calling early, too much horizontal passing.

didn't think the run blocking was very good.

My thoughts from game today.

First string OL did not look good, lot of work still to do.  A couple guys out with injury, so not worried yet.  First string offense without Montgomery, Reiff, Patrick, and Kmet.  2nd string contenders Jones Jr. and Pringle did not play either. Hard to say what Bears offense will look like with them vs without.

Tajae Sharpe looked good.  Been hearing he has looked good in practice.  Good to see it translate to game day.

Daz Newsome had some bad plays but had some impact plays.  I for one am hoping he makes team.  He has speed.

Ebener looks like a keeper.  I gotta a feeling Herbert/Ebener are going to make Montgomery expendable and he will not be getting big contract from Bears.

J Sunburn stood out in every way, this guy makes the team.

Brisker looks like immediate impact player as a starter.

D Gates whom I had never heard of looks like he could be solid depth piece at LB.  I look forward to seeing more of him next two pre-season games.

D. Robinson flashed with that sack, which is what I was expecting after listening to podcasts about practice.

Jenkins got a lot of playing time cannot say he stood out, probably not good since he was going mostly against 2nd/3rd stringers.

The starting DL looked a bit weak, I am already worried about us stopping the run this year.

Special teams is looking special.  Trenton Gill looking worth the draft pick.  I honestly was blown away by is accuracy.  We have upgraded punter position.  Santos still solid.  Tackling is improved.

I believe this team is going to be better than most people are thinking.  Play calling much improved, like the 4th and 2 that went for 20 something yards.  I told my son who is 17 years old "when is the last time we saw a play call like that", he replied "I have never seen play calling like that for the Bears".   Lol.  true.

Only caught the first half, taped the second.  Who was playing RT to start the game?  He was not doing well.  Schofeld was getting tossed around at RG, which was unexpected.  Where was Larry Borom?  And Reiff?  Braxton Jones was the least of the problems. And I hope Patrick gets well soon as we need him at center.

actually Newsome's pre draft 40 time was 4.57, which makes him slower than Pettis, Sharpe, Finke and probably every wr on the roster.

Agree with what hiber says. IMHO

1. The Bears 1st string offense is not good enough to compete with the better teams right now. I think their 3 series are a microcosm of the season to come. Slow start, improvement but in the end not quite enough to get across the finish line. The real test will be next year to see if they can build on any momentum from this year....

2. The Bears 1st string defense (minus a few starters) looked a little slow and tentative when facing Mahomes and the KC starters. They seemed to lack energy. The 2nd and 3rd stringers after the half however (and the team in general) were flying around in the 2nd half. They looked psyched and pumped up. Wonder what the halftime locker room rant was ? Would like to see that energy in the 1st half as well in the future....

3. This team pleasantly surprised me. They look... competently coached. Maybe its Bears Fandom Stockholm Syndrome or something but I feel a lot better about the team today than yesterday. Are they very good ? No. But I think they have a decent chance to be very good.

4. As an aside, they showed Nagy on the sidelines (visor and all) and he had a small play sheet and headset on. I wonder if he was actually calling/relaying plays in the 2nd half- that could also explain the utter incompetence of the 2nd half Chiefs offense. It sure looked like it did under his tenure here, that's for sure :D

Lets see them build on this as the year progresses and see where this ride takes us....

Go Bears !

Just watched highlights from the game. Hard to get a feel from that, but, I would say they better concentrate on running the ball til this offense (including Fields) gets up to speed.

I could only watch the highlights. My advice to Roquan. Better sign a contract soon of you might not have a job with the Bears

Watched the second half, and it was much better.  Guys were really flying around.  Kind of like Jack Sanborn, get the kid on the field.

Yeah it was kind of wierd to see. Rewatched the game last night and had my first impression enhanced.

For most of the 1st half the team seemed tentative- little or no energy- like they were going to a days work on a Monday.

Not sure what they drank at halftime but the youngsters played with their hair on fire the 2nd half. Maybe that's the effect of the culture Eberflus is trying to instill and the youngsters embraced it fully while the veterans are a little more circumspect at this point. Was good to see though.

Also was refreshing to see a head coach with his head in the game instead of hiding behind a huge waffle house size play sheet trying to figure out how to screw up the current offensive drive :D

Someone mentioned it looked like Nagy was calling plays in the second half.  I wonder if that helped the new guys look that much better.  LOL

Halftime adjustments by new coaching staff?

Might be fun to watch this year for that reason...
