As for #58 - I'd re-sign him if he doesn't want to be the #1 linebacker in the league - but he should be paid.  The tag looks like a possibility.  Would the Bears be messing around if Urlacher's contract was due?  I'm not saying Smith is Urlacher but he's the best player on our defense and the Bears can't let him walk away.

Well The Bears canned a good GM after 85 because he was spending too much of the McCasket's money. Poles seems just the GM the McCaskets love. Seems he likes to squeeze that buffalo till it urinates. IMHO Poles lets

58 walk, NO TAG. Tags are too costly. Besides the Bears need every nickel for Arlington Park. I just know you are going to argue that

The "they don't spend money" days are long in the rear view.  In the 2021 season just completed, the Jets, Browns and Lions were all in the top 5, with the Cowboys spending the most.  The Bears came in at 12th.  The Bengals, Chiefs, Bills, Rams - All playoff teams came in after the Bears.  I would accept your statement if you said they didn't spend wisely, but just stop with the Bears are cheap crap.  That is decades old thinking at this point.

Hopefully Poles spends the Bears moeny more wisely, but he will definitely spend it.

The Bears are not cheap- they do spend money. They spend it stupidly, however, which is just as bad......

Exactly. Bears are second in the league in dead cap money for 2022... $56 million up in smoke....

Throwing money away by the Bears goes a long way back. Remember Bryan Cox? That running back that Wannstedt got from the Giants, remember the rick Mier deal? Holy sh!t.. Inept is the Bears middle name..

The common thread to most of the modern ineptness is the McCaskets. They are the albatross around the Bears' neck......

No colapse tonight. 33-14 Bears. Held Pats scoreless in the 2nd half.

WOW, what a signature win in prime time for the Bears.

Coaches really made positive changes and players balled out.

Roquan was a beast tonight. ESPN said that, not me. Will Poles re-sign him? He'd look like a fool if he doesnt. I sure hope so but my gut feeling says NO.

Smith doesn't play one of the elite positions on defense which is corner and defensive end.  But the guy makes plays and I'm not just talking about the sack and the pick.  Watch him on run plays get to the ball carrier fighting through traffic.  Watch him in space tackling a receiver in the open field.

If the Bears could get a #1 for him - maybe.  But I don't think anyone makes that trade in the NFL.

He needs to be a Bear next year.

My 17 year old son said "I have never seen a Bears game where we dominated the other team like that".

Yeap its been a little while since those days.

Gotta say again I really like these coaches.  Play calling on both sides of ball was great tonight.

Wow. What a butt-kicking. No kidding that its been a LONG time since the Bears beat a team like that. Usually its grab a lead, hold on tight or attempt to come from behind. Ghost of GSH saying "not this week, Bill" ?

Stunner to be sure, but still want to see if its more of an outlier (a.k.a. perfect storm) or something more common. Only problem is that I was watching the Manningcast and I thought I saw some Oline injuries (they never talked about those).....

Fun to see them win that way. A couple of dozen of those and I think my faith will be fully returned :D
