Kickers have slumps.

Everyone complained about Gould when he slumped and he was let go to our regret

Probably no double doing if he was kicking.

Whew! That was close . If we had won we would have put G.B. close to contention for our current draft status.

Fortunately my beloved Raiduhs look to be taking them out of contention of competing wif DAA BEARRSSE also.

The game isn't over yet tho.  :o

I have been thinking the same thing.  How can I guy who is so accurate normally keep missing extra points?

Also, on the missed field goal it didn't look like he kicked through the ball.  It almost looked like he held back.  It didn't look natural.

That kick looked screwed up, even Coach was mouthing "what just happened". They said it was partially blocked , but on repay it didn't look like it...

Gould admitted that he didn't have his head in the game. He said it woke him up when the Bears cut him. He said he rededicated himself after that... To me, a slump means missing some field goals here and there, not missing extra points. We might be witnessing why he's been on 6 different teams...

It was blocked.  If you look at the replay you can see the defender in the middle hand go backwards when the ball hit it.  Still, Santos said he didn’t hit it right and the kick was too low.

It looked to me like he was trying to keep his kicks lower than usual so that the wind wouldn’t push them too much.

Even the kicks he made were doing some funky ****.

Even though Fields had those 2 picks.  He showed some improvement today.  Nice throws on a couple deep balls.  Escaping the pocket and finding open receivers.  Was careful on his scrambles and slid before getting tackled.  Also now seems to be finding Kmet more consistently when he was largely invisible at the beginning of the season.  If Kmet was on a better team he'd put up much better numbers.  Watch how many times he's pass blocking or chipping.

I don't understand all the short throws to Claypool.  Bears don't have the ability to run that WR screen which the Packers offense has mastered for years.

Packers end around goes for 48 and a TD - ours a 1 yard gain maybe.

Defensively, the rookie DBs held their own for the most part.   But in the end the lack of pass rush was just too much to overcome.  D-line made a couple plays here and there but largely are man handled by the Packers O-line.    But hard for our DEs to get pressure when they faced the likes of Yosh Nijman and Zach Tom.

Yeah would like to see them airing it out to Claypool with his ball skills rather than the others.

Surprised Fields had as much time in the pocket as he did. Can’t figure this OL out but I think a veteran center and maybe 3rd round RT would help.  Maybe resign Reif for the new tackle to get ready.

Get the best OT available in the first round or in free agency, and then go after pass rushers a big DT to plug up the run.

The needs are many.  OT blind side pass blocker.  Run stuffing DT.  Pass rushing DE.

We get zero pass rush and can't stop the run.  A deadly combination.

We need a big play WR and a WR who has good hands and runs great routes who knows how to get open consistently.  A chain mover.

With the draft capital and salary cap amount if he hits it out of the park it is doable.  But more likely they will take a big step up next year and either be on the verge of the play offs or make it and be sent home quickly.

Next year should see a lot more wins and a lot more fun.

I still expect the Bears to at least make the wild card next year.  Worsts to firsts happen almost every season and the Bears are the prime candidate for a dramatic turnaround.

I want Rodgers to drag his raggedy old ass on the field next year.  His career should end with a Bears sweep and maybe a Wootenesque exclamation point at the end...within the rules of course.

The Bears first draft pick should be Carter, Anderson, or an absolute and total fleecing of a trade down.

Justin Fields is a good QB. The best the Bears have had. But he is not clutch and has yet to prove he can be with the team as it is currently constructed.....

Poles wasted a high second round pick on a guy who they won't use the right way. Most of his other FA are shaky at best. At least he looks like he hit on UDFA Sanborn......

When the Bears were still up by 2 and they completed that pass into FG range, I said to myself- they are going to call plays and settle for a FG. It was "Game Over" and they promptly missed the kick and did lose. I had NO faith the D would keep the Packers from scoring.

My fear now that the Bears "brain trust" (and I use that term loosely) will now start to believe they can get away with the offense as it is and promptly over-correct the defense with draft and FA capital. BOTH need to be addressed greatly. The lack of talent is readily apparent on both sides of the ball in key positions. They do play hard, though, and imagine if they had a little more horsepower on both sides of the ball......

But so far the Flus legacy is for this team to play hard and lose. They are becoming the lovable losers. Its a bad trait that is becoming a habit (whether due to bad officiating, bad decisions, dipshit special team failures etc).....

The squandering of the Halas Legacy of wins belongs squarely in the fumbling hands of the McCaskey family.....

Looking ahead, the only game that the Bears could be "in danger" of winning is against the Minnesota C squad.  But the Bears could keep the rest of the games close in the first half and then Santos might continue being weird and the 2nd half gutless tank calls might be effect if surprisingly necessary...

The Bears were good enough and should have beaten the Packers, but this is that kind of season IMO.

I almost wonder if there is a wink nod agreement between Fields, Santos, Getsy and Flus, maybe Poles, that it is ok to NOT win games.  Kind of like lets not ruin our draft position in a meaningless season.  Santos misses and those two INTs by Fields, just didnt look right.  Just a theory.

No conspiracy theory.  Bears looked good for most the game but eventually you just knew they would find a way to lose...especially to Rodgers.
