I would've loved to have gotten Harbaugh last season. I have little confidence in this team choosing a head coach. Brown doesn't thrill me, but who knows. I think Belicheck is a has been, and proved he couldn't do anything without Brady. I don't want Pederson (I'm pretty certain he'll be fired at seasons end. The guy from Detroit?

Freddie Kitchens never had the opportunity to audition as HC.  But Cleveland could not let him go after his promotion from RB coach to OC because of decent production from rookie Mayfield.  Kitchens flamed out.  Former LB coach Antonio Pierce rallied the Raiders to be in the hunt after McDaniels lost to the Bears.  Now he looks like one and done as well.  The difference between Thomas Brown and those 2 are his offensive tutelage under McVay, his solid reputation among players that remained intact even after the Panthers disaster, and that he actually gets a 5 week trial at doing the job.  If TB proves his worth both in developing Caleb, being an accountable leader who can execute the basics of clock management and late game strategies, and actually wins divisional games then you pull the trigger and maybe upgrade the DC to someone who was already a HC.

Sure Ben Johnson could be the next McVay and Shanny.  He could also be the next Nagy and Daboll.  You just don't know.  Frankly he is the only OC I would be ok with.  Josh Allen carried Joe Brady like he carried Daboll so hard pass on yet another Armstrong client.  Maybe the Bears could hire an experienced HC (Vrabel, Stefanski if let go) who isn't mentally retired or recommended by outside consultants who are half dead.  A third very long shot option if it presents itself...trade for Shanny or McVay.

First question I would ask Brown is why call a QB draw on 2nd and 20.  What was the next play call that Williams audibled out of when the clock went under 10 seconds?  Probably won't answer that but worth a shot.  And most importantly, would you have called a time out after the sack?

Well, recent history has proven that first time coaches here suck on a epic scale so let's not do that again...🙄🙄

I'm sure there are very good candidates who haven't coached before. I'm just afraid, for very obvious reason and historical precedent, that this team will not choose the correct one even if he's standing a foot from their face with flashing lights and arrows pointing at him.....

The fact they made their decision and announced it by around 11am is fine with me.  I’m sure they had to meet with Brown first to offer the job.  It’s not a given he would take it because he has to run Waldrons offense and Fluss’ defense which may not be his first choice.  If this stint fails it may affect his ability to get a job for next season.  They also have to agree what he gets paid.

Yeah they should have canceled the 9:00 preser to save face for Fluss but getting Brown was high priority.

Flashing lights and arrows indeed.  The first interim HC ever to win AP COY wanted to bring in Bowles as DC instead of having Marinelli forced on him.  He wanted to work with Cutty.  He worked closely with Big Ben, Luck, and Manning.  Marinelli told these dumbasses to pick the obvious guy even though he was on his way out the door.  They made him do a silly mock presser.  He wanted this job.  He thought he had the job and found out he didn't get it while still in a Chicago hotel.  Emery didn't bother calling him and had some lackey do it for him.

From The Athletic

“Jaylon went crazy,” one Bears player said. “He was very emotional and pissed but rightfully so. He’s been here longer than most.”

Said another player: “He was going off more so at (Eberflus).”

According to multiple players and staffers in the locker room, some players were asking why Eberflus didn’t call a timeout. Other players got going, too.

“Guys were furious,” a staff member said. “It was an accumulation of this season.”

“The locker room was ugly,” another staffer said. “There was a lot of yelling.”

Said the first player: “We felt as players it’s been too many instances where we fought our way back into games to lose because of bad time management and decision-making.”

Multiple sources added that the emotions were so high between the players and their head coach that Eberflus left the locker room immediately after his speech and the exchange with players. There was nothing left to say. It was a moment for this Bears team that would inevitably force chairman George McCaskey into something the franchise had never done before.

Anyone, and I mean anyone who could blame this loss on Caleb needs to get out of their mom's basement, go to their room and think about what they have done in their life to this point.....

Is someone blaming Caleb?

Can you imagine being the players, play to get back in the game just so the dumb fukk can blow the chance to win.. Fair to say Eberflus won't be considered for a head coaching job in our lifetime (or his)...

There are some commenters trolling and click-bait sites by those still butt-hurt about sending Justin Fields to Pittsburgh and not getting "the haul". The Bears have not seen a QB that gets BETTER as the game goes on in my lifetime, anyway.....

We've had some really bad coaches, but I'll tell ya... Eberflus was right there at the top of being bad...
