YOUR 2018 Chicago Bears Draft choice
« on: November 17, 2017, 09:40:28 am »
Rules:

  • This topic will only contain your choice of available players when the Chicago Bears make their selection.
  • This topic will not be used for draft discussion.  We have a topic for that.
  • Until draft day this topic will be used for discussion on rules for this topic.
  • Any posts made that do not follow these rules will be deleted.
  • When the Chicago Bears are on the clock is when you make your pick of available players.
  • After the Bears pick is announced you will not be allowed to make a pick.
  • You are not required to be present for every pick.  If you miss the first round you can still make the second round pick.
  • You are required to be present and post your selection while the Bears are on the clock.
  • If the Bears trade up in the draft you must be prepared to post your selection before they make theirs.
  • If the Bears trade down out of a pick (After you have posted your pick) your selection will remain so it can be compared to the results for the Bears
  • If the Bears trade down you can still make your pick with the additional draft picks they receive even if you already made the pick for the player they traded off of.

Is #9 necessary? Not sure you HAVE to post your choice before they do. Because maybe you agree with the pick...unlikely,lol....or probably you don't. No one knows till the games are played how that pick worked out anyway.

I think #9 is necessary because we do not want any hindsight picks.  If they have the 15th pick and trade up to the #7 you have to be prepared to take the players available at that pick.  You might not have had a player in mind for the #15 but now you have more players to choose from.  If you wait until after their pick then other teams pick you have more information than others who made the pick before the Bears selected.

if you agree or disagree with the pick that goes in the other topic.

This is not necessarily to score which poster has a better draft.  This is to find out if the poster would have had a better draft than the Bears.  I guess at the end of the year we could grade who would have picked the best player available at each pick.

What would have been fun, and we should have done this already, is to pick the players we'd draft and compare them against what the Bears drafted and watch them and see how they work out. I'll bet a few of us outpick the Bears right off the bat....

Sound like a topic needs to be created on draft day.  Only for who is your pick not who should be drafted.  Straight up my round one pick is...

Also more then one player per round.

I would have been happy with Latamore - Jamal Lewis - Adorhee Jackson in the first.

Perhaps a set number of players per round could be instituted.

i .e.: You only get to pick 500 players per round.  ;D

Or would that be too complicated and just stick to one per round ?

What if everybody picked QB's tho DA BEARS don't need one ?

See what they did and report back at the end of 2018 ?

JJ - The topic would only be used when the Bears are on the clock for everyone to record who they would pick from who is available.  No speculations.  Just make the pick when the Bears are on the clock.  Then archive it and it can be compared a few years later if your pick outperforms who the Bears selected that was available.  Then there wouldn't be any "hindsight is 20/20" people saying, "I would have picked Tom Brady in the third round.  What the **** were the Bears thinking..."

Any speculations or who they should pick or who you think they will pick get deleted.  The only posts remaining in the topic should be what YOUR selection would be when the Bears are on the clock.  That means you would have to be posting to the board during the draft.  Especially if they happen to trade up.

I am going to make the section now with rules in it so we won't forget.  We can use it now for discussion of rules and I will delete all the rules discussion and questions on how it works before the draft.

All of that stuff should be in the draft topic anyway...at least for people who were posting during the draft...which was not very many if I recall correctly...

This little game might bring more to the board during the draft.

I am not really a draft person so I can focus on making sure the topic is clean of clutter.  If they post an opinion that shouldn't be there I am just deleting it.  Not moving it so they need to make sure they are in the correct topic.

I don't really know the draft outside of the 1st round, I know Joki really follows the draft and college scene.

Maybe something as simple as Bears make choice - Posters either Agree/disagree - If disagree who would you take in that spot?

That is the beauty of the game.  You don't need to know more than the first round or two if that is as far as you want to go.

The Bears are on the clock you make your pick.  If you only do the first round and you would picked LB Smith and the Bears to TE Jones and LB Smith makes it to the HOF as the best LB to ever live and TE Jones busts out after year one you can have your ITYS forever.

The agree or disagree **** is for the regular draft topic.

 WML,

Now that youve explained the rules ... let's get it awwn !

 Almost.

There has to be a set date to see the outcome.

At the end of the SuperBowl.

How did every pick perform by then.

Everybody has to report in by March 13 , the start of the new NFL year ... no lying.

All of us will vote on which picks did the best in Seven rounds.

 It's entirely subjective.

 That's the Winner.

Best I could do.  All these will be deleted right before draft day.

Anyone else have rules ideas?

If there is no winner implied ... in other words its not a game ...

then it's compare notes at the end of the season as to which draft pick did what.

 Is that correct ?

yes.  The idea was who thinks they can draft better than the Bears.  You can grade everyone at the end of the year to see who drafted the best but that wasn't the intent.
