Brent Rooker making his MLB debut today...I played ball with his dad many, many years ago...

Quote
Rookie outfielder Brent Rooker, who has filled in admirably for the past nine days while Max Kepler has recovered from a groin injury, was hit on the right arm by a Zach Plesac pitch in the fourth inning. The changeup fractured Rooker’s forearm, ended his season and might require a surgical procedure to fix. Kepler likely will be activated Sunday.

Wow.  I just noticed that the Yankees, who started off even better the Cubs I believe, are now in 3rd place in the AL East, and just 5 games over .500.

Eloy's got a .927 OPS and is on a 162-game pace for 42 doubles, 48 homers, and 132 RBI.

Horrible injury problems.

Yanks have won 5 straight! You would have been really shocked a week ago when they were really locked in a battle with Orioles and Tigers for final playoff spot.  ;D

St. Louis and Milwaukee are scoreless in the bottom of the 7th in game 1.    After scoring 19 runs against the Tigers last Wednesday, the Brewers have now scored 3 runs in their last 33 innings.

I have a rookie pitcher vs. Milwaukee in game 2.  That'll fix that problem

Brewers win 2-1.  After the Cardinals scored a run in the top of the 8th, the Brewers win on a sac fly in the bottom of the 8th.

You want an idea of why games go so long, check out this 2nd Cardinals/Brewers game tonight. In a 2-1 game in the top of the 5th there have been 19 strikeouts and 186 pitches thrown.

Cards come back to tie it in the seventh, then score a run in the ninth to gain the split.

Cubs' division-winning odds were over 90% after the Brewers won the first game.

While no plan is set in stone, the Phoenix area has emerged as the primary backup option if MLB needs to move any of its postseason games on account of air-quality problems, sources told ESPN.

With the awful air quality in Seattle postponing tonight's game between the Mariners and Giants, the question of how the West Coast fires will affect MLB down the stretch is very real, particularly with the ALDS and ALCS scheduled in California.

There are going to be no off days in the Wild Card, LDS, and LCS rounds of the playoffs, but there will still be two off days in the World Series.

I wish they'd permanently get rid of in-series off days in the postseason. With so many off days, managers are able to manage completely differently, and it's not really the same game they've been playing all year. One day off between each round should be enough.
