Brewers are fighting for their playoff lives.  If they lose, it will take a minor miracle for them to make the postseason.  They were down to their last out in the bottom of the 9th and 10th and tied the game each time.  In the 11th, they loaded the bases with one out and the game tied and failed to score.  Now they're going to the 12th.  Marlins batting.

Marlins get a 2-out single in the top of the 12th to score the ghost runner.

Brewers lose.  Now they will need to sweep the D'Backs and hope that the Astros sweep the Phillies.

Marlins played the Brewers tough. Only Marlins loss in this seres was the terrific 1-0 Burnes/Alcantara game.

Non-contenders try hard to beat contenders late in season. Always been true. Think especially true on the road playing in other guy’s park with rabid hometown fans.

...the terrific 1-0 Burnes/Alcantara game.

It put one in mind of a bygone era.

Braves have come back from a 3-1 deficit to lead the Mets 5-3.

This should be an absolutely epic divisional race, but thanks to the wild card system, it hardly matters.  I remember in 1993 when two 100-win teams (the Braves and Giants) were battling for the NL West crown and people were saying that it was unfair that one of those teams wouldn't be able to go to the playoffs.  Much more unfair, in my view, is that under the new system these final-week games, which should be historic, have become almost meaningless.

Should be one of the greatest comebacks in history by the Braves, but people might not even remember it.  The Mets didn't even "blow" it (they haven't had a losing month all year, unless you count being 0-1 so far in October); the Braves just won like crazy.  And yet in the playoffs anything can happen.

Shohei Ohtani has allowed a total of 21 earned runs in his last 18 starts while striking out 148 batters.  The only other pitcher in MLB history to do this is Clayton Kershaw.

And yes, Shohei had the 7th-highest OPS in all of MLB during this time. 🦄

He better hit 11 more real quick if he wants to even tie the record.

On Aaron Judge and Minnesota Twin Luis Arraez battling for the AL batting average title:

Should they both play, Judge would need to, for example, go 3-for-4 if Arraez went 0-for-4 to catch him. If Arraez didn't play, Judge would have to go 4-for-4 to nab the title. If Judge didn't play, then Arraez would win before the first pitch in either game was thrown.

Aaron Judge not in the Yankees lineup and Luis Arraez is 1-1 for the Twins.  Judge misses the triple crown.

Like Contreras, wasn't good enough for the Cubs.
