I'll bet it's something staggering.  $42/4.  Something like that.

He was fantastic last year, but 2 TJS is scary.

Eh, Minor didn't pitch at all in 2015 or 2016, and seemed to be pitching through injury for most of 2014.  Some of his injuries have been shoulder problems.  If it was going to take 3-4 years to get him, I'm glad he went somewhere else.

Morosi just tweeted that the Rangers plan to give Minor a chance to start.

There was rumored to be $300-400 million in debt that the new owners assumed so I have seen it mentioned that should be subtracted from the sale price. I have no clue if that is how it should be done.

I have no clue WHY it should be done.  It is money the buyers are going to have to pay in order to get what they are buying, AND the money being paid is for the benefit of the sellers.  Perhaps some accountant can find some excuse for not counting it, but logic would counting, and the IRS most definitely will.

If the Cubs should end up getting Ohtani, it will be one of the most remarkable single things they have done, among many very impressive accomplishments along the way.  I will be truly shocked if they pull it off though.

Among other thing, it would likely free significant cash to sign or trade for another high level starting pitcher.  It could be huge for the Cubs, not just next year, but for a few years.

I think the Rangers have a real shot, personally.  My #2 dark horse after the Angels.

I think Theo and Maddon have the best chance of persuading him.

Jeff Passan‏ @JeffPassan
Source: RHP Miles Mikolas and the St. Louis Cardinals are nearing an agreement on a multiyear deal. Mikolas has thrived the last three seasons in Japan and would provide another option in an already-deep Cardinals rotation. Would leave open possibility for trades as well.

Interesting, for whatever reason I'd thought he might be a guy the Cubs might target as a guy who's a step or two better than Lackey, at a fraction of the price.

At $15.5/2, it's still almost half the price Theo's been paying Lackey.

Could be a nice signing for the Cards or at least a cheap lotto ticket.  The Rangers apparently wanted him to build a 6 man rotation that includes Ohtani.

The Sun-Times has a Chris DeLuca piece that includes an Ohtani video highlight clip.   The narration and graphics are in Japanese.    Apparently there is no Japanese equivalent of OPS and WHIP.

At one point the background music is the Theme From the Magnificent Seven which is an Old West-style remake of Akira Kurosawa's 1954 Japanese film Seven Samurai.

I doubt if many of us can remain interested for the entire 22:46 but you might go for a few minutes.

His highlights are fun to watch... get lost going back and forth from his pitching to hitting. nice flyball swing.

Kevin Maitan signs with the Angels.  I've never been that clear on the international free agency rules...so for anyone who really follows that, is there any reason to think this could impact their ability to sign Ohtani?

I don't think so.  The Angels could have used next years money to sign Maitan or this years.  Unless they spent every dollar of this years money on Maitan it won't affect Ohtani because he is considering multiple teams that can only offer $300,000.
