I hadn't seen Josh Donaldson's comments on MLB umpiring until Len & JD just brought them up:

“[If] the umpire consistently isn’t doing [his] job correctly, that’s affecting our careers, that’s affecting our success. At the end of the day, there’s no reprimand, no accountability for the guys that are making the decision,” Donaldson said in a video call with reporters Saturday. “As a matter of fact, they don’t care. They don’t care at all, most of them. They just want to get the game over with, for the most part, and it’s pretty sad because guys are making six figures a year and there’s no accountability.”

https://www.startribune.com/twins-josh-donaldson-stands-by-actions-that-led-to-ejection-sounds-off-on-umpires/572466671/

I think he's wrong when he says most of them don't care. But he's right when he says there's no accountability. If there was accountability, Angel Hernandez, Joe West, and CB Bucknor would've been gone a long time ago.

I take the Cubs rotation over the White Sox. Darvish and Hendricks are better than Giolito and Keuchel. I’d take Dunning over Mills. Lester, Quintana, Alzolay over Cease.

I still take the Cubs bullpen over the White Sox, although Wick getting hurt makes it a harder choice.

Rizzo, Bryant, Baez, Schwarber are certainly struggling at the plate this year and the White Sox are hot. If your talking this season sure. Long term I think this is the best case scenario for the White Sox.

Jimenez and Robert will both get better. What young Cubs will get better?

Lets say this year and next two years.

C- This year, sox. Next year push or slight + for Cubs.
1b - I'm partial but i say Abreu for all. but reality is it will be andrew vaughn at 1b and abreu at DH.
2b - Madrigal looks great and horner is a gamer, we can call it a push right now.
3b - I'll take moncada over bryant for now and next few years due to production/defense/actual cost of the player. moncada has a very team friendly contract for 4 more years.
SS - TA, due to contract and bat.
LF - Eloy.
CF - Robert.
RF - for now cubs, but if Grandal is forced to DH more, its likely andrew vaughn is tried out in RF, he's already getting reps there in Schamburg.

SP 1 - Darvish is **** awesome. however, he's older and loses his "feel" often. Giolitto is younger, and he's a stud himself.
SP 2 - I'd say its a push.
SP 3 - Dunning over lester
SP 4 - Cease, his walks are a problem but none of the players you mentioned other then mills has his upsode, age or cost control on his side. esp when considering the next 2 years.
SP 5 - Wsox. likely a FA signing.

Bullpen - This is where it gets fun. The Sox have done an excellent job putting a fantastic bullpen together. i'm not a fan of Colome but he's making it work with smoke and mirrors. Adding Crochet to the BP I think gives the edge to the Sox.

Alzolay over Cease? Was this posted by a parody account?

If they still had tatis... and you move him to RF. just wow. fuc king james shields and JR being a cheap as$hole. They wanted a lessor prospect, we gave them Tatis so Padres would pick up 8 million of Shields Salary. So in whitesox world... they won that trade 1.5 mill to sign tatis, and they got 8 mill out of san diego.

If all you look at is ERA, sure Cease looks amazing.

If you look under the hood he has a LOB% 84.4%. 6 K/9, 4.44 BB/9, 5.81 FIP, 5.83 xFIP.  Alzolay can at least get a swing and miss.

Rizzo is better than Averu.
If we are talking future, Brennan Davis factors into the conversation.  He is going to be better than Jimenez.
Happ is much better than Robert on offense, Robert has to cut his strike outs to be better on offense. Call that a push.
Bryant is better than Moncada.
Fangraphs has Vaughn as 30 runner and 45 arm, maybe he can play the OF, but I’d want to see actual games before I believe that.
Cease has a fastball that people make contact with and bad control. What is his upside?

The Cardinals and Brewers are both riding four-game winning streaks.  Remembering how the Brewers ran the table in 2018 to catch us, it feels like at least one of these three teams behind us will get on a crazy streak and catch up to us.

Maybe the Cubs... Sox are coming. we've got a cost controlled team with a window just opening.
