deGrom also left with an injury after 6 innings tonight.

Scherzer also left with an injury tonight after only 12 pitches.

deGrom is due to pitch Wednesday against the Cubs, pending his ailment in Friday’s game.

DBacks have lost 10 straight (and counting).

From mid-May to late-May, a few weeks ago, DBacks lost 13 straight.

Great read on the Cole/Bauer “rivalry” at The Athletic today…

I don’t get people who don’t like Trevor Bauer.

Sorry, Di...been swamped at work...

In a nutshell, they are simply oil and water...Cole is no-nonsense, by the book, fit in with everyone, toe the line...while Bauer is more march to a different drum, do what works for him, rather than everyone else...also spoke of the fact that both of them are uber-competitive, and were always looking to one-up the other...in anything and everything...

Sounds like their coaches and teammates loved both of them, just had to realize that they were two completely different people. Diversity rules!

It's a great piece...

Tyler Glasnow went on the IL today and he's blaming it on the fact that he hasn't been using sunscreen to help him grip the ball:

Jesse Rogers @JesseRogersESPN
Tyler Glasnow just went off about the midseason crackdown. He stopped using sunscreen a couple starts ago and felt sore afterwards due to difficulty with grip. Same last night. Says it contributed to his current injury. He’s hopeful to be back at the end of the season.

This might be mean of me, but I'm not sympathetic even if it's true.  These guys should be learning how to pitch without the junk regardless.

If pitchers are now going to have to back off of their overly filthy, arm ruining stuff because they can't pitch and stay healthy without sticky junk on their hands, so much the better.
