I live in Minnesota Twins country, so brothers-in-law and lots of friends who like the Twins.  Will be interested to see how healthy he stays and how well he actually performs, and how many playoff games he helps them to win.  They've got some interesting players and prospects, and some intelligent coaching.  Will be interesting to see how many .800+ OPS seasons he's got left in him.

Given their lack of home run power, this seems like a flyer the Cubs should've taken. Cruz could've been a cheap RH platoon DH with Hosmer/Mervis.

Jeff Passan @JeffPassan
Veteran slugger Nelson Cruz and the San Diego Padres are in agreement on a one-year, $1 million contract, sources tell ESPN. Cruz, 42, is entering his 19th season and should get ample DH at-bats. He'll also serve as GM of the Dominican Republic team in the World Baseball Classic.

Would have been interesting to see the reaction in Cubdom if this Correa thing had gone down and they hadn't already signed Dansby.

At this point I'm sure Cruz was looking to sign with a contender.

This is one of the reasons I'd like the Cubs to win enough to be wildcard worthy.

I want a lot of things I can’t have.

At this point there's no reason not to have them everywhere.

I can see why they wouldn't work in basketball or football but not baseball.

Does Italy have a baseball league?  If so, Maybe Bauer can get a gig there.

Mariners sign Tommy LaStella, DFA Justus Sheffield.

Sheffield seems like the type of pitcher the Cubs will target to run through the pitch lab.
