Why don't we set up a vote on playoffs for this weekend.

Got a note from Fantrax to re-up.  Do we all have to do that or just you, Doc.

You actually need to make me the primary commissioner and then I can do it.

If you have the league bookmarked after I update it I believe you have to change the address.

Who did you make primary?  Me?  I didn't know that.

Yes.

You go to commish tools and all options then reassign primary commissioner

Instead of monkeying around, can I just renew then?

Done.  I went to Commissioner and the button to renew was right there, so I said, sqru it, why not.

If it's much better having you as primary, we can do that this winter.

Just looking to clarify the free agency rules.
1) If someone gets a QO, you have until the player accept/declines or signs an extension before the QO deadline.
2) If no QO is made, they are back in pool once they become a free agent.

Is that correct?

That is my understanding.  Did we decide to do anything about the playoffs or increasing ABs/IPs while retaining minor league eligibility?  I think the playoff thing is a "must do" or the season becomes a waste for many owners.  Increasing ABs/IPs is the only thing that will allow me to be competitive any time soon as several of my guys will have burned minor league status while really not even playing.  I think ABs should be bumped to 100.  IPs (which isn't relevant for me) should be doubled as well.

We need to have a vote on the playoff systems.  My work has been a wee bit crazy, so I haven't gotten around to looking at the different proposals.

The minor league limits I'm less likely to want to change.  The talent in the league is pretty much already locked up and that is one of the few ways we have to try cause less of that.  Welcome to the fun of moving from rebuilding to trying win, it is the hardest part of the league.

The rule is kind of ambiguous the way it is written. The actual rule is: 2. Free agents are released into the pool if they are not resigned by their current teams by the end of the Qualifying Offer expiration date. It doesn't specify that the free agent actually has to receive a qualifying offer to be eligible to be a keeper.

Edwin Diaz technically became a free agent, and now he won't receive a QO because he got extended before the deadline to make QOs (he obviously would've gotten one if he'd waited another week to sign). But I'm assuming he's still keepable even without receiving a QO.

Basically, the rule is that once a player is free to sign with any team, he is a FA and is not protectable.

Mlb has jacked the dates around a lot.  What we used to enforce it.  If other tes can legally sign the player he's a FA

This is from MLB's site about this year's offseason:

Officially, players become free agents the day after the conclusion of the World Series. However, they cannot sign with a new team until five days after the conclusion of the World Series (Thursday, Nov. 10, at 5 p.m. ET).

So does this mean that anyone who signs after Thursday at 5:00 p.m. goes into the pool? Or is there a special exception for anyone who gets a QO? Teams have to offer a QO by Thursday, and then players have a 10 day window to decide.

I believe we have always granted exemptions for players who receive QO’s…if they accept it.

If they get a QO, and decline it, they’re a FA.
