Seems AZ didn't activate Montgomery after all.  Back on the IL pick up Estes, Oakland/Sacramento/Las Vegas

I think I've said this every year since I joined the league...can we please get rid of the -2 points for errors? They're only correlated with playing time, not actual defensive performance. So they punish owners who (wisely) build a team with a lot of everyday players.

If the Shirtballs don't have a great day tomorrow, I'm giving up on this frustrating season and I'm ready to sell off some players for draft picks.

If you need a starter, Scherzer and Bassitt will be available. If you need a closer, Kirby Yates is available. If you need a hitter, Willy Adames, JD Martinez, and Ha-Seong Kim will be available. If you're willing to pay more, make an offer for Matt Olson or Jose Berrios.

That makes way too much sense and has been mentioned multiple times over the last few years by multiple different owners (myself included).  So we might as well keep the rule.

In the Dark Ages, when the league began, all points were allotted in a manner that kept pitching and hitting balanced, but, for the life of me, I can't remember what the hell errors were supposed to balance.  In the good old days, hitters dominated the league, a reverse of common trends today.  So, yeah, get rid of it.

I imagine, when we were creating the league, it was done not only to balance scoring, but to have negative outcomes for offensive players in general, similar to fumbles or interceptions in football scoring. We have always been fluid with scoring measures in an attempt to keep scoring as balanced as possible, and for the most part we have done it well.

But I agree that it has outlived its usefulness…

Honestly, we should also look at removing or reducing the penalty for strikeouts. I believe there is some duplication in counting hits…maybe we could remove that as a way to counter the removal of strikeouts?

Now that's something I've been saying for years. :)

I think most points leagues use a .5 penalty for strikeouts nowadays.

I'll get back to you on that later tonight. My team did what they needed to do today to keep me from giving up for a few more days, but there are still guys I'd move now.
