I don’t see the board as dying, but it is certainly stagnant.

I’d love to get some new blood, but, as Robb said, new blood leads to the potential for new idiots. I read the comments on some BN posts, or other sites, and I cringe to think of this place becoming like that...

Well I been on this board for 70 years even before there was internet and I disagree with all of you.  Posting isn't as fascinating as it were back aways.  Posters get older, get hitched, have kids, get jobs.  Posters die.  Posters get offended and leave.  Some posters are obnoxious bullies who drive some folks away.  What I don't understand is why we get new posters who don't stay.  We need to go to other Cub boards and invite them here, by force if necessary.

I'd contribute to either option if Dave and others think it would help.

We'd also get rid of the inane censoring policy here wouldn't we?

I would also contribute Curt's money if Dave thinks it would help.

But seriously, tell me where to Venmo (or whatever).

Even if it's just for therapy for Dave for having to read all the posts.

I'd contribute as well...I already bought a chat board that no one uses.

10 people giving $5 would get it done...and we lose the ads as well?

I don't see the ads on Tapatalk, and my work PC blocks the ads, so all I see is the mildly annoying message begging me to disable my ad-blocker (which work policy makes impossible)...but losing ads is always a plus.

I wonder if we lose the censorship along with the ads (since that's the primary reason for the censor anyway, supposedly).

Actually, the more I read it...it sounds like those upgrade options are only for an individual account, rather than the board as a whole...

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

I was wondering the same thing.   Both options mention what the forum gets.  That doesn't sound like it is individual .

I agree, but...

when I go into the Admin section of the board, and look at the page of available forum upgrades, there is no mention of any of the features listed in the profile upgrades you linked (except the ads removal)...

Bookmarking/Account Upgrade for Forum Members
« on: September 19, 2018, 10:02:25 pm »
Rolled out a new bookmarking system for all forums and is now part of our new member account upgrade system.
The account upgrade system is under Profile -> Account Upgrades and allows your members to buy extra perks for their forum account.Including ad free visits if your site has advertisements on it.Bookmarking system which allows use to bookmark their favorite topics.
For each subscription the forum owner gets 100mb of extra space ever year added to forum's global attachment or 500mb if the five year option is chosen.

All admin forum users get free access to the bookmarking system and you use an use it as a demo for your users. You can check out yourself inside a topic click the "Add Bookmark" option near reply on the bottom of a topic.
And the biggest perk for the forum owner is each person that orders adds more attachment space to your forum.
I will looking into others/features to be added as time goes on.

Create A Forum
Is there a limit to how many forum administrators there can be?

Bookmarking question:

Assuming the option allows you to see only the topics you are interested in, what happens if a new topic is added to the forum?

Would one of the administrators be willing to do a little experimenting?

Im fine with the amount of members we have here.

That's what makes it ideal.

We keep the trash out...in most cases.
