Dumb question.  Are people hitting the little orange "New" by the name of the topic or are they clicking the "last post" symbol on the far right?  If you click "last post" you are going to go to last post.  When I click the orange "new" it takes me to the next post after the last one I read.  Maybe I'm set up differently than others?

The only time I've had trouble with missed posts was during the fantasy draft when some were posting while I was typing.  I don't think I've missing any otherwise.

That's what I do, Curt and it does exactly what it's supposed to do.

I always click on the "new' button to see unread posts and use the "new post" button only to enter a topic with no unread posts.

Jr - I've been using St. Louis Sucks to see if I could recreate the problem in a lightly used topic.  Sort of a reverse way to prove that very active topics are the culprit.  I know the problem exists in On The Farm, Cubs In '13, Around Baseball, and Today's Game.

One of the Createaforum techies should be contacting me today.  I've invited him to become a Bleacher Bum so he can see the problem for himself.

Cactus, there's got to be one tiny difference between your settings and mine if I have no problem and you do.

Let's say I'm gone almost all day and the Today's Game topic has 3 pages I haven't read...it takes me to the last post I read and then when I hit GO, it shows me that there are still 2 pages to read so I click "new" again, and after I hit GO it shows me one more Today's Game page left and so on.

I'll go look.

I'm just one of many with the problem.  Could you be an exception due to your Admin status?


Are any of the other Admins afflicted with it?

I don't see anything.  It can't be in the Admin section, because my settings would impact everyone.  It has to be in my personal settings and I don't see anything to check that would influence new posts.  For the record, I am using Firefox.

Yes, that's a possibility.

Here's a way to check, see if Dave can add you to the Admin for a couple days, see what happens.

If it is a setting difference, it is most likely in the Look and Layout area.  Here's what I have

Time Offset:  Number of hours to +/- to make displayed time equal to your local time.  (auto detect)  -2

 Show board descriptions inside boards.  Not checked
 Show child boards on every page inside boards, not just the first.  Not checked
 Use sidebar menus instead of dropdown menus when possible.  Checked
 Don't show users' avatars.  Checked
 Don't show users' signatures.  Checked
 Return to topics after posting by default.  Checked
 Don't warn on new replies made while posting.  Checked
 Hide messages posted by members on my ignore list.  Checked
 Show most recent posts at the top.  Not checked
 Show WYSIWYG editor on post page by default.  Checked
Topics to display per page:    Forum default 20
Messages to display per page:  Now 50  I've tried others
First day of the week on the calendar:    Sunday

I have Show Child boards on every page checked, all others are the same as yours.

I have my messages on display set to 10, but all others settings like yours.

The old Today's Game topic was where the most missing post problems occurred.   

I entered the new Today's Game five times with multiple posts to read and was always sent to the first of the unread posts.

Progress?

One thing I wonder is if deleted posts might have something to do with it.  It seems like the website has a few issues keeping track with the number of posts when one is deleted. 

Maybe the reason Today's Game is working OK right now is because it doesn't have any deleted posts in it yet.
