Wonder if they'll revise their valuation rubric again?  :)

My bet is that it is in a state of virtual continual revision, though some revisions may be more comprehensive than others.

Callis now says "not sure on Lange" signing.

If doesn't sign, Cubs lose about $100,000 overage amount for Estrada.

Guess we'll find out in about 1/2 hour.

Spread it around to Karp, Ruth and Meredith and call it a day.

Good point.  I thought they got some of the slot money back IF Lange was one of the pitchers who took the pre-draft MRI and then had a different result after taking the Cubs physical.  If inaccurate......my apologies.

...If doesn't sign, Cubs lose about $100,000 overage amount for Estrada....

Pretty fair shot that Cubs never planned or agree to give slot to Lange.  So if they'd planned to come in a couple hundred under, that plus the overage could pinch the possibilities for Estrada.

Other thing here, I'd think, is that there's not much time to be completing deals with Ruth or Meredith or Karp in the remaining time.  So, if they were to come in with a minimum 40% offer, and Lange decided to accept that, would they have time to use the other 60% and $1.3M or whatever on Karp/Ruth/Meredith types?

Well, maybe yes.  If Cubs did the physical on Monday, they've had all week to be scrambling through contingency plans.  Klutzy, regardless.

That's hardly less than I was expecting in the first place.

All right, lets hope the guy can throw some strikes and stick together as a pro!

If Velazquez signed for slot, the Cubs left $286,745 on the table unless they signed an overslot after round 10.

Turns out that 5th rounder Velazquez signed for $400,000. Slot there was $285,800.

So, ended up not spending an available $172, 545.

Orioles failed to sign their 4th round pick and didn't offer him a contract due to a failed physical. Bleacher Nation is implying that he will be a free agent and not subject to draft caps.
