Little Sergio Alcantara has eleven hits in the big leagues.  Eight have gone for extra bases.

Arismendy is batting .393 at Giants AAA club in 30 PAs this season.

There needs to be some nuance when discussing COVID vaccines.  There can be people that are vaccine hesitant that may decline to get the vaccine now and still get it at some point in the future.  Then there are anti-vaccine nut jobs.  Sogard's wife is an anti-vaccine nut job.  Rizzo might be anti-vaccine or he might be vaccine hesitant and there is a big distinction between the 2 and we frankly don't have enough info to say one way or other what he is.

This is what the righteous liberals need to understand. It is a personal choice and everyone gets to make their own choice based on their situation. I hate when someone is criticized for their choices no matter what they are. He was a cancer survivor. He said he made his choice based off what his doctors were telling him. My wife was told by her doctor not to get vaccinated until just recently and she told her she could only get a specific vaccine because of her health issues. Her doctor was waiting for more information to come in on how it affects people with her disease.  She doesn’t leave the house unless she has a doctor appointment because of her disability. Is she to be criticized for waiting?

I on the other hand got one as soon as I could because of her situation. I was the one going to work. Going to the store. Running around doing **** that needs to be done. I didn’t want to bring it home.

I think it’s time for everyone to get off their soap box and let others live by their own decisions and stop preaching and hating.

Amen and this is coming from someone who dislikes both parties and got his vaccine as fast as he could.

You do you and Ill do me.

The dont tread on me **** stirring crowd is our biggest problem as it is.

An individual has a right to decline to get vaccinated even if they have no medical reason for declining.  I have the right to criticize such a person for not living up to their responsibility to others.

If someone has a fear of flying, their decision to not get on an airplane has no impact on others.  Not so with the Covid-19 vaccine.  An unvaccinated person increases their risk of of becoming infected and spreading it to others.    They are not doing their share of contributing to a "team" goal.

If Rizzo is filling to avoid places, avoid gathering with families, weak masks and he doesn’t spread false information I don’t have an issue with him declining the vaccine. It makes me sad, but it didn’t cause me to enjoy his home run any less yesterday.

He need to acknowledge that his choice does effect his teammates and if there is an outbreak with the Cubs it puts them at a competitive disadvantage. So far everything I’ve seen from Rizzo puts him in the vaccine hesitant and not the anti-vaccine category. Sometimes going too hard after the hesitant can cause them to flip into the anti-vaccine category.

I agree.  An anti-vaxxer would be that woman on TV who claims that vaccines magnetize you and tried to prove it by having her car key stick to her neck.  Hesitant could often mean they know someone who had a very unpleasant reaction.

As someone who had Covid and was recently tested for anti-bodies, which were robust. My doctor informed me she doesn't want me to get vaccinated at this time.  I am not a risk to anyone else,  and following doctors orders and am not vaccinated.  Yet I am not exempted from the vaccine passport requirements some businesses are putting in place.

From my cursory analysis, the Cubs shouldn't have a position player roster problem if/when they are fully healthy.  The five bench players should include the backup catcher, Alcantara, Bode/Wisdom, Marisnick, and one of Happ/Pederson/Heyward.  In this formulation, Bryant is basically a full time outfielder.  Marisnick starts against LH pitchers, moving Pederson or Heyward to the bench.  Sogard gets traded or released.

Oops.  I forgot about Duffy.  With the starters unable to go deep into games, they need an 8-man bullpen.  I guess there will be tough decisions to make after all IF they get fully healthy.

The #Cubs today recalled RHP Trevor Megill from @IowaCubs
and optioned RHP Kohl Stewart to Triple-A.

Cubs have carried four bench players for vast majority of this season so far, not five.

Right now, Cubs carrying five bench guys but that’s because currently carrying only three starting pitchers, with Alzolay and Williams on IL. Mills is here now and might get a start.

But, unless and until Cubs drop down to eight relievers, it will be a 4-man bench.

Hoyer:

“I think when it comes to the trade deadline, I guess I look at it from 30,000 feet,” Hoyer said. “We’ve been really aggressive here to win ever since we’ve been in a winning mode. I think that’s sort of undeniable. Sort of the industry standard that everyone uses — and there’s a couple very rare exceptions to this — if you’re in a pennant race you try to get better and you try to buy. We’ve always done that and I don’t know why this year would be any different.”

Wisdom sitting today and Bryant starting at 3B.

Wisdom is 2 for his last 14 ABs.

Maybe Wisdom will turn into Max Muncy or Justin Turner. That would be great.

Or, there’s Bryan LaHair, who at age 29, had a slash line of 384-476-767 thru 103 PAs in 2012 and made the all-star game.

Or, Micah Hofpauir, at age 28, who was batting .342 thru 80 PAs in 2008.

Every guy is different, so who knows. But, it takes quite a few ABs before you actually have a Muncy or a Turner.

They should try to get a good look at how Wisdom adjusts to pitchers going after his perceived weaknesses before Bote returns.

Where does Hoyer get off?  We’ve all known bosses who boss just to boss, and in the end dig their own graves, because they’re too busy bossing to see the big picture or any kind of picture.  He needs to go.
