As someone who had Covid and was recently tested for anti-bodies, which were robust. My doctor informed me she doesn't want me to get vaccinated at this time.  I am not a risk to anyone else,  and following doctors orders and am not vaccinated.  Yet I am not exempted from the vaccine passport requirements some businesses are putting in place.

You aren’t exempt because people who where infected are still at risk from reinfection with the variants. People with previous infections are still recommended to get the vaccine.

He may not be Muncy or Turner, but he's at least still on this side of hope.  I'd rather pull for him than wait for his failure.

Little Sergio Alcantara has eleven hits in the big leagues.  Eight have gone for extra bases.

Twelve and nine.

Mentioned Muncy and Turner because Jeff noted them as older-guys-who came-out-of-nowhere—as role models to aspire to.

Nobody is predicting that for Wisdom nor is anybody waiting for Wisdom to fail either. As I noted, every guy is different and who knows—as we also have the LaHair and Hofpauir examples too.

Part of the fun of baseball. Sometimes, guys come out of nowhere and succeed. Sometimes, premier prospects disappoint.

Where does Hoyer get off?  ....  He needs to go.

It may be that maybe Hoyer and management deserve more credit than they've received for their creation of value out of nothing?
*Chafin
*Tepera
*Alcantara
*Wisdom
*Duffy
*Pederson

Those have been some really good contributing pickups at no cost in traded-talent and negligible cost in $$.  (Pederson at $4.5 and Chafin at $2.1.).

Jeff has mentioned the importance of creating value out of nothing.  Theo had some success like that in Boston, with Mueller and David Ortiz.  With Cubs in 2015 breakout, Rondon was a huge piece, Chris Coghlan was an under-appreciated piece, and Dexter was picked up pretty cheaply, too.  Maholm and Feldman.

Some of the present contributors might fall off the earth, we all realize.  But I've got to give Hoyer and his scouts credit.

While watching the Orioles game on Friday, the subject of foreign substances and pitchers came up, Jim Palmer immediately singled out Keegan Thompson of the Cubs before later saying he was just one of many ... What's up with that?

As I understand it, listening to the Cubs broadcasters, substances such as vaseline and saliva were used to reduce spin on the ball, and were banned decades ago.  But currently, substances are being used to increase spin, and have not been banned.  The question is, should they be?

The Rosin bag was given as an example of foreign substances that increase spin, and have always been allowed.

You’re right!  I don’t know tiddlywinks about that aspect of the game.  I’m just wary of bosses and the bigger the bosses the warier, and I thought he came off pompous (a trait of bosses) in the quote about his plans for the remainder of the season.  Your list of players above was certainly impressive and I wasn’t aware of Hoyer and his scouts’ involvement in them.  Maybe I should learn to keep my typing finger still when I don’t know what I’m talking about. Maybe get the broom out and start sweeping the third and final game of the series.

I thought that rosin bags were to remove moisture from the pitchers hand.  That would prevent the ball from slipping out and might increase spin rate.  But that seems a lot different than allowing an adhesive that promotes an increased spin rate.

Rosin and sunscreen help the grip and add about 30 rpm to spin rate.

Stuff that Cole and Bauer where using add about 200-300 rpm.

You trying to shut the entire board down?
