Davis stacking more K's, but gets his first hit of the season.  First of many more, I hope?

And Brennan does get one more hit, per game report a pop single to SS, whatever that might be.  Iowa had 8-5 lead in the 8th, but Duffey and Kay give up 6.  Down 11-8, rallies in the 9th and Morel gets two-out hit to make it 12-11.  After 23 runs have scored, Iowa turns it over to Manny Rodriguez.

reb will be happy to know that Manny gets a 1-2-3 save with 2K's.

Myrtle doesn't look to have a very good lineup in terms of hitting.  But Cristian Hernandez was placed 9th in the order, where he was 0-3.  He had two errors.

One was a routine force play, he threw a short underhanded toss to 2nd about 10-feet over the 2B's head to enable some unearned runs.

Really couldn’t figure out what caused Hernandez to underhand a toss when pretty far away from 2B bag and in an awkward position for that kind of toss and when a simple conventional toss clearly gets the force out. Get it that he’s a kid but not great instincts there. Still, it’s just one play but….

Cade Horton is doing a great job applying Crash Davis' instructions to Nuke Laloosh on handling interviews with the press:

“If you take care of the small things, then the big things will happen,” Horton said. “It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Just focusing on the controllables and the rest will take care of itself. … I just want to get out there and compete. I’m really focused on the recovery days. It’s going to be great being a full-time pitcher now and getting to focus on that.”

That’s one of the most impressive runs of sports cliches I’ve ever seen.

True, Curt, however, "Let's play two," were the words of a God (Ernie Banks), so those words are never trite, always melodious.
