Interesting comment from ArizonaPhil

"While Herson Perez is a bat-first utility player with defensive shortcomings no matter where he plays, Henderson (Perez) is one of the Cubs top catching prospects, with similar traits as Willson Contreras (a plus-arm that he likes to show-off, a strong desire to pick-off runners, and a much-improved hitter with some HR power). Thanks, Dave, for note on Henderson Perez.  That's very encouraging.

Perez was a million dollar bonus guy that was off the radar of National guys wasn’t he?

Yup.  Bat's probably the thing, hit .226 and .224 his two seasons in DSL.  This being his 4th season, probably good season to start showing some hints of hitting in AFL.  His K-rate dropped last year, and he took some walks.    Had a sub-.270 BABIP.  Hopefully he'll be a little stronger, a little better, a little luckier this summer, and the batting average will ramp up.  HR's are hits, too, of course, so I always think low-average guys might jump their average some *IF* they start to hit non-trivial number of HR's.

His HR trot speed would probably steal 30 bags.

Although Kelli has always been listed as a switch hitter, ArizonaPhil has insisted that he is strictly a righty.  He certainly batted right handed against a right handed pitcher in that at bat.
