Their minor league system is certainly no longer mighty.  But I would much rather have a mighty MLB club than a mighty minor league system, assuming we can't have both.

Cubs are going to be Logenhagen’s next list. Multiple Cubs questions in the chat.

Cubs also lost their minor league pitching coordinator to the Mariners. I really hope they bring in the Pitt/Marlins guy.

I sent Jim Brower a congratulatory email early this afternoon.  I helped with the Babe Ruth team he played on when he was 13-15.

When you become a winner, others steal your coaches, scouts, and office people.

Brower was rumored to have been under consideration for the Cubs pitching coach job so leaving the Cubs organization was probably his best shot at returning to the majors.

One of my memories of him is the time he balked in what turned out to be the winning run in a game at Wrigley.  He was with the Giants at the time.

He's in the group of major leaguers who played in the Little League World Series.

So far, we have been lucky that Hoyer and McLeod have stayed this long.  That will change eventually.

And even those we part company with are swallowed up by others very quickly.

Another slow week has dropped David Bote (.333/.395/.536) out of the top 10 in batting average and on-base percentage but he is still hanging on to 8th in slugging. He did knock in 3 runs in his 2 games, going 2-for-10.

At the same time, both free agents, coaches and scouts suddenly seem to want to join the Cubs organization, instead of seeing it as a place to avoid.

The Mesa Solar Sox have clinched the Arizona Fall League Eastern Division and will play in the title game on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. Chicago time.    The game will be on the MLB Network.

That would be a lot more impressive if he were not already 24.
