Interesting comment from ArizonaPhil about a player who got a inside the park homer.

"Jaque may be the fastest runner I have ever seen on a baseball diamond. He is really, really fast. That said, there may be some issues with his hit tool. Despite the blazing speed displayed with the inside-the-park job, he also struck out swinging against DSL Cubs Blue Pitching Coach Jose Zapata."
[/quote

Also in Arizona Phil's article:  Perhaps she used the inside information she acquired as their hitting instructor to exploit their weaknesses.
"CUBS "BLUE SQUAD" PITCHER:
Rachel Folden: 7.0 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 K, 2 GIDP, 10/8 GO/AO
NOTE: Folden is the ACL Cubs hitting coach"

This back and forth between Mervis and Canario is fun.

He’s on the 40-man anyway, why not call him up and give him a sip of coffee for a couple weeks?

Canario homers in Iowa's finale and beats Mervis on the season 37-36.

Canario also had 3 walks and finishes the season on a .924 OPS at AAA.  Seems like most of his HRs lately have been opposite-field shots.

Kind of fitting to end his season with a HR.  Nice.

It doesn’t have to end his season…

I have guessed in the past Sanders had triple digit potential as a reliever, and with an offseason of training focused on being a reliever, I wouldn’t be shocked if 100 is commonplace in 2023 for him.

Since move to pen: 29.2 IP, 17 H, 3.64 ERA, 16 BB, 34 K.

Cam Sanders just hit 100 mph for the first time this year with @IowaCubs to wrap up two perfect innings.

To finish off the season out of the bullpen, seven out of his last eight outings were scoreless.

There's an open spot on the 40-man roster for Sanders.

Canario and Sanders up, Rivas and Rucker down.  C'mon, Jed!

The AA championship game can be seen free tonight on various platforms.  Marlins' top prospect Eury Perez versus our very own Ben Brown.

Sanders is no slam-dunk to be added, and I probably wouldn't make that move now.  But having Canario come up, hang with the big boys and get the occasional AB seems to make a lot of sense.

To quote Frank Costanza, "Don't bring me down!".

But, yeah, you're probably right.

I wonder if they'll wind up choosing between Sanders and Danis Correa.  Of course, "neither" is a possibility also.
