The players are dressed like they're driving in a NASCAR track after the game.

Brennen has 2 hits to reach the Mendoza line.  I have a feeling he's going to come around with time.

The problem is that we don't know how much if any of his decline is related to health.  Back problems can be nightmarish and long-lasting.  The Cubs are painting it as mechanical and related to swing and approach changes and if that's the case, I would be hopeful he'll eventually figure it out as he's obviously talented.

Carter Hawkins, a few days ago, on Davis:

Minor League Baseball, we donít really care about what happens. We care about whatís going to happen. You make a fundamental change, you make an approach adjustment that puts you on the right path. The fact that your cumulative numbers for a year donít look pretty is irrelevant to us, and I think Brennenís got an opportunity to do that as he continues to make adjustments and continues to get back into playing every day.

Yes, as I said the Cubs narrative is that itís mechanical and if thatís the case, youíd have to hope Davisí talent will win out in the end.  When a 22 year-old misses basically an entire season with back injuries I think itís reasonable to be concerned thereís a connection.

Cubs are not going to say publicly that Davis has a lingering back issue, IF thatís the case. True enough.

Itís also conceivable that the ďfundamental changeĒ that Hawkins refers to is a result of adjusting to a back issue, that is, canít swing like he used to.

All speculative but a lot more important how Davis hits 2nd half of season than how he hits first half, which is Hawkinsí main point.
