Vol fans will be wishing for Schiano by the time this is over.
And many other fans just wish it was over.

Football Scoop is saying that it could be over today.  Fulmer has talked with Tucker twice now and is trying to sell potential hires on Fulmer being more involved with the program.  This should end well for the Vols...

Yeah I can't say I'd be pretty thrilled with a guy whose last three NFL defenses ranked 30th in the league.  Definitely shouldn't have run off Schiano if he's the guy.

Looks like the finalists for the job are a definite mixed bag.  Really hope Venables is the guy, and Pruitt or Morris wouldn't be bad either.

Fsu nails it's first choice as well. I think at this point UCF might have done a better job then UT.

Very disappointing that Venables and Morris seem to be out, although with this search you never know what's true and what isn't.

Sounds like it will be Steele.  Guy has one of the biggest coaching blunders of all time on his resume.

Steele would be a truly abysmal hire.  Flat out awful.

I dont dislike Steele as much as Tucker.

If you could get Steele and Tee Martin to come in as OC/head coach in waiting I dont think we could complain.

We're not 1998 UT.

No stud coach is beating down the door right now.

There's pretty much no upside to Steele at all.  The guy went 9-36 at Baylor and got fired at Clemson after his defense gave up the most points ever in a bowl game.  If the fans thought Schiano was bad, I don't see how a guy like Steele is acceptable.  And HC in waiting arrangements 9 times out of 10 end up not working out well either.  If Steele doesn't work out, it's better if UT just starts fresh again with a coaching search instead of having to lock themselves into or having to buy out Martin on top of it.

I can't say Tucker seems all that great either, but at least there's upside with him.  His NFL defenses may have been bad, but then again, he was coordinating for the Browns, Jaguars, and Bears, which may as well by the unholy trinity of poorly run NFL teams.  His college career seems to at least be off to a good start, and he was getting head coaching interviews when he was in the NFL.

I can at least see some potential with Tucker, while there's next to zero with Steele.

Of course, Greg Schiano would be better than either, though.

It wasnt Schiano's resume that we didnt like.

It was his character.

As far as Steele and Martin go I just think after what we've had recently Im just down for some Tennessee blood on staff.

Like I said before I dont think this staffs gonna win us any titles but they could bring stability and a better foundation.

Even you aren't a big enough rube to think that's true.
