Not long ago, I played golf with a very strong young player who was a year ahead of DeChambeau in the Fresno area junior golf circuit.
He said Bryson was generally disliked by other juniors for one reason only: tho' far and away the best player, he was a MAJOR whiner!
The young man we played with said Bryson was a scratch golfer by age 13, but he complained non-stop about ridiculous stuff related to his golf game, the course set up, the tournament officials/operation etc. before, during and after virtually every round.
That kind of negativity seems to fuel some athletes (e.g. John McEnroe), but it wears out other competitors and fans of the game.
(in this day and age, so does the head-scratching anti-vax stance!)
By the way, not long ago, I heard McEnroe in a lengthy interview. He sure has mellowed! Hopefully, DeChambeau will too, someday.
