Cameron Smith earned every bit of that Open championship today…that was impressive!

I'm in the middle when it comes to St. Andrews.  Four drive-able par fours is three too many.  The pot bunkers can be excessively penal.    And the course just has very little visual appeal.

Dusty, perhaps like that girl you describe (and millions of others), the Old Course is one that becomes more beautiful and compelling the better you know her.

Dusty,

Your golf experience is not complete until you've played at altitude.  I heartily recommend the Vail Golf Club in Vail, Colorado which is at 8,200 feet.

They have bushes you can use to tell how many 300 yard drives you have hit.  It's a long narrow course in a valley with the Vail Creek winding from one end of the course to the other.  The creek comes into play on about 14 holes and twice on a few.  And the scenery is not too shabby.

Off your list Dusty I've only played Torrey. My only complaint was the fog didn't burn off until the 5th hole so I didn't see much of my ball or those holes. Great course though.  I'm playing Pebble in the spring which is in my top three but I have always wanted to play St Andrews. I will get over there eventually.

Sports lost a great man in Bill Russell today.  Probably the greatest winner in NBA history, yes, but also a thoughtful and dignified example of an athlete whose life was about more than the sport he played and coached.

Never thought I'd see a player with more talent than Federer but I believe Alcaraz is that guy.
