They are still third in the reverse standings. The guys they signed seem to have some trade value and if Toews and Kane agree to a trade the roster will be horrible.

Kane hasn't done anything this season and Toews not much more. There are at least two teams demonstrably worse. They'll need a lot of luck to get Bedard or Fantilli.

Even if they have the worst record, you still need luck to get the #1.
