I searched around a little to find a Stanley Cup preview I liked most. It's not the only site, certainly, to pick the Blackhawks, but it's the one that touches on some hockey-SABR kind of analysis to explain the pick. Here is the key section:

"Chicago finished the regular season as one of the best puck possession teams in the league, finishing second in Fenwick percentage (a measure of attempted shots that help indicate possession) and second in shot differential (plus-4.9 per game). Few teams over the past decade have been as dominant with the puck as the Blackhawks have been, and the ability to control the puck and possession is a common trait that most Stanley Cup winners have"

It was for Boston. At least the last 2/3rds. Hawks started out great. Better crank it up a few notches.

As usual the PP is abysmal. Actually outplayed the Bruins that period but still come out trailing.

Took the Bruins about 20 seconds to score on their first PP of the game. That after Chara flopped as soon as a stick got between his legs.

Thing is, the way this game has gone, it feeds into the whole irrational belief that Boston is somehow riding this great surge of momentum and grit and bellyfire (hawks have many more shot attempts and shots on goal).  Losing game one isn't a death knell, but it doesn't help.

Hawks get it to OT with two excellent periods. Came very close to getting the lead. Let's hope that doesn't haunt them.

Hawks badly outplayed in the 1st OT. Lucky to still be playing.
