ESPN will have competition starting August 17 when Fox Sports 1 debuts.  I doubt if they will be much different.

ESPN has been live on the Aaron Hernandez story all day long.  They covered his arrest and arraignment live and talked about it on SportsCenter all morning and afternoon.  It wasn't the only thing they talked about but it certainly was covered.  They had someone live on the scene outside his house, another reporter live outside the courthouse and their legal analyst was on several times all morning and afternon discussing the probability of bail for Hernandez on various charges.  They even had football discussions about how Hernandez being released by the Patriots would effect their season.

I have my problems with ESPN but saying they didn't cover the Hernandez story is off base.

Yeah they're finally now making a big deal out of it now that he's been officially charged and the Patriots have released him.

Their coverage of it up to that point had been very subdued I thought, though.

Heh, good thing they signed Tebow.  "Son, you're moving to Tight End."

I don't know about ESPN but CNN made a big deal out of it since last week.

That might not be so far off.  Tight end or fullback.  Dude is an athlete.....just not a quarterback.

The UCLA team roster is interesting.  3 if those kids played for the Springfield Sliders wood bat team a few years back.  All but one player is from California, except one kid from distant Reno, NV.

The more I read about this Hernandez situation, the more I wonder about his intelligence.  Is he really bright and thinks he will beat this rap like OJ or is he really so stupid to allow even his home security cameras show him with the weapon moments after the killing?  How do you have such brass as to throw away 40 million dollars cuz it's more important to you to be a gangsta?  Puzzling.  Really puzzling.

I saw one attorney who said that he expects the head injury defense...too many concussions.  Not sure that will fly.  Too many drug involvements is more likely, plus the 2012 killings were prior to the concussion he received.  Good chance he will OJ because there were two other guys with him and unless they roll over, nobody can prove he fired the actual shots, but, like OJ, the ensuing civil suit will clean him out.

Just hard to believe that you can be so immoral and psychopathic to do that kind of thing, even though I've seen what drugs to do kids.

Interesting that the Bulls apparently fired Ron Adams because he was privately critical of Paxson and Foreman's personnel decisions.  Given his reputation as a superb assistant and closeness with Rose and Thibs, that's a pretty risky move.
